Editorial Reviews

From Library Journal

Falsely accused of attempted murder, Lord Worth takes refuge with a troupe of pantomime actors and ends up on a country estate performing for and trying to hide from a number of his former friends. The theatrical emphasis provides an intriguing glimpse of an aspect of Regency life not often described. Unfortunately, the plot tends to revolve around the discovery of the identity of the would-be murderer (obvious though it is to the reader) rather than the romantic relationship between Worth and actress Persey McCall. Indeed, the final romantic scene is almost anticlimactic. Nevertheless, several of the secondary characters are definitely worth a look. Devon has written a number of light, traditional Regencies, including A Heart on His Sleeve (Fawcett, 1992). (Devon lives in Charlotte, North Carolina.)

I love this story. It is tender, the hero wins you over and the heroine has a nice balance of feistiness and compassion. Worth reading.
