5.0 out of 5 stars Superior Toy
The paint job on this figure is simply amazing. If it was only a little bigger, you would think it came right out of the movie. The Gondorian Soldier fits nicely in the saddle and, with a little effort, can be made to stand on his own without the horse. The figure goes perfectly with other Armies of Middle Earth toys.

2.0 out of 5 stars Ouch...a LotR figure that isn't so good
In the battle for the last stronghold of Men in Middle-Earth, the might of Sauron's massive armies was turned loose on Gondor. Only through the courage of the soldiers, and the skill of the White Wizard, could victory hope to be accomplished.

In the battle for the last stronghold of Men in Middle-Earth, the might of Sauron's massive armies was turned loose on Gondor. Only through the courage of the soldiers, and the skill of the White Wizard, could victory hope to be accomplished.

As you might be able to see by my nickname, of all the lands in Middle-Earth, I am most enamored by Gondor, the city of Men. The 6-inch figures are my favorites to collect, but when I saw this first toy representation of Gondorian soldiers, I impulsively reached out and grabbed it off the shelf. It took me approximately one day before the little stand that holds him up in a horse-rearing pose to break, which renders the entire figure pretty non-functional -- not that it had much function before. Its only purpose was for display, and if you aren't careful, you can render that non-fuctional too.

Otherwise, besides being only three inches tall, it's kind of a cool figure. The Gondorian soldier is mounted on his horse, with a shield in one hand, and a lance, or spear, in the other. The horse is kind of rearing up, held, like I said, by a small plastic stick. (WHICH, I may point out, is easily breakable) There's a small platform of terrain beneath him, so standing on his own isn't an issue.

I'd really suggest you wait for the six-inch Gondorian soldier. This one just doesn't cut it.
