Above all else, I am amazed at the detail that is in this figure. The White Tree embroidered on his armour, his helmet, engraved with Gondorian designs, even his dirty feet; they all contain such an immense amount of detail and accuracy to the movie. The likeness could be slightly better, but it is actually much more accurate than some other figures. My only problems may be that the sword seems slightly fragile, and the 'sword-slashing action' is a bit weak. But do not let those points hinder you! This is an excellent buy for anyone interested in the Lord of the Rings, or for a excellently made figure.

Before I even opened the package, I was immediately struck by the immense detail that this toy held. The White Tree on his armour is extremely intricate and very accurate to the movie and book description. He has a belt which holds his pack and sheath, all of which are very well made. The engraving on the helmet is also very detailed and accurate, just like the whole toy. The likeness is excellent though, as another reviewer mentioned, seemed more circular than is natural. The feet, which are dirtier than before, are very stable, and Pippin can be put into many different poses.
My only problem, and it may only be for mine, is that the paint on the sword seems to chip off whien the sword is bent. Overall, though, this is an excellent, excellent figure, and a worthy addition to any Lord of the Rings collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice!, February 28, 2004

As a small and simple hobbit out of the Shire, you'd think that Peregrin Took would have no place in the affairs of knights of Gondor, or wizards, or elves. Yet by choosing to go along with Frodo on his Quest, Pippin finds himself strung along in a series of events beyond his control. Taken by Gandalf to Minas Tirith, the City of Kings, Pippin offers his service as a knight of Gondor to the city's Steward, partially in recompense for the death of Boromir, Denethor's son, in Pippin's defense. Pippin soon proves his valor is not proportionate to his size in the battle of Gondor!

Pippin comes with entirely different garb than we've seen in any other figures: a tunic with the White Tree of Gondor emblazoned on it, chain mail, and a small sword such as the soldiers of the White Tower carry. He wears his Elven cloak with its leaf-shaped Lorien brooch, and he comes with a rather over-sized helmet. (It's supposed to be that way - Gondor doesn't have hobbit-sized helmets!) His belt also has a pouch on the right side. His li'l hobbit feet are still bare, and fortunately, the figure's ability to remain on his feet is happily satisfactory.

My only complaint is with the head. It's the same head as is with all the other figures, and it's kind of hunched up and too round and chubby. It gives the impression that Pippin is either hunching his shoulders, or has absolutely no neck whatsoever. The facial accuracy could also be better, but nevertheless, I'm going to recommend this figure to you, because it reflects a very cool string of events in the third and final movie in the Lord of the Rings motion picture series.

This is a very well done action figure (especially if you like Pippin). He has a nicely designed blue tunic with a highly detailed silver tree (of Gondor)"embroidery" on the front of it. His helmet is much the same as the rest of the Gondorian soldiers only smaller and fits snuggly on his head. His face looks fairly similar to that of Billy Boyd and is well painted. However, just as in the movie I don't think this figure would do well in battle, for his chopping action isn't to strong (the button is also somewhat blocky)and his sword, though stiff is very thin but would qualify for one of Denethor's butter-knives. That however is only a miniscule defect and don't let it stop you from buying it. The best feature is his extreme posability.

I got this item from Toys R Us.Pippin is my favorite hobbit. He comes with a removeable Gondorian helmet. It's awsome! There are two problems.Once you remove the belt, you can not put it back on.The second problem is that when you put the sword in the sheath, you have to use your mouth to get the sword out. This item is cool and cheap.Get it!!!

I have a respectable collection of LotR action figures (mostly hobbits) and this Pippin is my favorite! The detailing is really amazing. I don't think Pippin's Gondorian armour is shown enough in the movie, so you really need this figure to appreciate it. He looks great with or without his helmet on too. And a nice detail is that his feet are even dirtier than they are on previous Pippin figures... perhaps because he hasn't washed his feet in a long time? Whatever the reason, make sure you add this figure to your collection!

5.0 out of 5 stars Pippin Took: In the service of the steward of Gondor, March 6, 2004
= Durability:4.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Lord of the Rings Trilogy ROTK Bilingual Action Figure Pippin in Armor (Toy)
After looking in the Palantir, Gandalf whisks young Pippin Took to the White City, Minas Tirith in Gondor. While there, Pippin mistakingly pledges to be in the service of the steward of Gondor: Denethor, in honor of Boromir, son of Denethor's death. Pippin is garbed in Gondorian armor, with the crest of the white tree on his chest. He wears a small belt that holds his scabbard and pack. He also wears mail and gloves. No shoes since hobbits don't normally wear shoes. He wears the elvin cloak from Lorien with the Lorien broach. His feet have good detail with the dirtiness and hair. His sword has much detail but bends unless placed in the scabbard. He wears a helmet that has very rich detail. The likeness is very good and better than the other figures of Pippin other than the There and Back again figure. Pippin is excellent and will make a great diorama to the pyre of Denethor if they make a Denethor. Here are the stats:
Fun: 5 because you can play battle and key scenes with him.

Educational value: 5 because a child's imagination can grow when they make certain scenes out of their own imgination.
Durability: 4 stars because the sword is made of rubber and bends and arms can be plucked off easily.
Score: A 5 out of 5

Though there are some drawbacks to the figure, he makes up for that in excitement.

This toy is awesome! I am aware of the fact that it has no educational value, but giving it anything but the top score would be an abonimation.

This figure is so cool. I just got it this week and it is so cool. Basically like everyone else has said, it has incredible detail like the silver tree on his clothes, the helmet, and even his feet are dirty. The only thing i dont like about it is that you can hardly take the cape off and when you do it is almost impossible to get back on again. I'll NEVER try that again. That is probably just for me though because i like to take off all of my figures capes and cloaks and weapons.

This is a very nice figure. Pippin has a removable hemlet, and sword, with sheath. Pippin has the White Tree on his armor. This is a very good and flexible figure. My only compliant is that Pippin's sword does not fit very well in his hand.
