More About the Author

I grew up in the suburbs of New York. I was into sports as a kid and not into school so all my science fiction came over the t.v. and scifi movies. In the Seventies, B.C. (Before Cable). I watched all things scif, Star Trek, The Twighlight Zone, Battlestar Gallactica, "V" and that Moon base show with the guy from Mission impossible where they all wore white clothes.

In High school two knee operations got me to start reading scifi books and short stories. Conan The barbarian, Sherlock Holmes and Issac Asminov's "I Robot" books.

The scifi I like the most is when it takes place in space with the latest cutting edge technology. I think thats why I miss Babylon 5 the most.

I write space adventure that I always wanted to go on as a kid. I never really grew up, you can ask my wife and two kids about that.

In my youth, some years ago, I was a big fan of Tom Swift, the venerable and long running sci-fi boy wizard-hero. I haven't thought of young Tom in years. Nor have I read a lot of sci-fi recently. A friend recommended LORD SKYLER & THE EARTH DEFENSE FORCE, and I'm glad I heeded the call. When Jacob Skyler and two buddies set out to see a movie on a high school Saturday night, there it was - Tom Swift and the spacecraft. Jacob and his mates, All-American under achievers, and a set of bagpipes are abducted by aliens in the face of a terrifying Earth invasion by the rival (& EVIL) Titan Empire.

Then Star Wars begins. Jacob Skyler is transformed by Aderain monks into Lord Skyler in preparation for his return to Earth. This is a fun book, fast paced and entertaining. Buckle up and enjoy this imaginative, science fiction roller coaster.

The overall story was good and well paced. The one problem I did have was that there were quite a few grammatical errors in the book. And every time I came across one of those, it really took me out of the story itself. I understand the author is an independent author and finding somebody to edit the book isn't cheap, but it might be worthwhile, in the future, to at least pass the manuscript around to a few folks he trusts and have them look for grammar errors. Otherwise, it's a really good story.

In his book, `Lord Skyler and the Earth Defense Force,' author Matt T. Schott tells the story about an alien invasion on earth and a group of teenagers who fight to retake the planet from the aliens.

Jacob Skyler is a typical teenager unsure of his future and feels the pressure of a father wanting him to make important life decisions. One night, Jacob and his friends Terry and Doug are driving to a movie when they are suddenly confronted with a series of lights and thunderous rumblings and then lose consciousness. When they wake up, they find that life as they knew it is gone forever. An alien force called the Titans has invaded earth and killed much of the human population and enslaved others to help take all of the earth's natural resources. Jacob, his friends, and other teenagers are rescued by another alien race, the Flarconeans, who are "galaxy protectors of peaceful societies." Jacob and the others are taken to the Flarconeans' home planet where they train for a year to fight the Titans and retake the planet. When they return to earth, they embark on the fight of their lives.

As science fiction, `Lord Skyler and the Earth Defense Force,' is an exciting alien adventure with vividly described aliens, spaceships, and fierce battles. Readers will identify with Jacob Skyler, once an insecure teenager, who undergoes significant character growth as he transitions into manhood. The relationships of the young teens emphasizes a "band of brothers" united against a great evil. A common theme throughout the book is the resilience of the human spirit. As well, the theme of revenge evolves to that of fighting to save humanity. Although Jacob did have a close relationship with one of the female characters, there was no real love plot to the story.

Let me begin by saying I never take the time to stand up and write a review about anything, but in this case I have to say that this was a wonderful book... This is the kind of book that can translate into movie's or a series of movie's. I really enjoyed reading and I am sure you would too.......Now I can sit down

If you like your meat fresh and raw and a can of Coke can get you tipsy, than you might be a Titan. If that is the case it would be better if you thought twice about reading this book. Instead it would be best if you run and hide. You see Jacob Skyler is seeking revenge on all of the alien Titans that took over the Earth and made slaves of its citizens.

The story starts with the abduction of three teenagers by a Flarconean space craft. They along with some other earthlings were being rescued before the Titans took control of the earth. Jacob, one of the three teenagers, vowed to gather together an army and retake control of the Earth. With the help of the Flarconeans, the earthlings start to train for the battles that would ensue. Matt T Schott presents us with a fast paced, western style, shoot em up, sci-fi adventure. Lord Skyler and the Earth Defense Force is an excellent way to forget about the worries of the day.

Jacob, Terry, and Doug are typical teenagers with typical teenage problems. This is all about to change when a trip to the movies turns into the fight of their lives. When an evil alien race called the Titans come to enslave the earth, these three, along with other Earthlings, are saved by an alien race called the Flarconeans, Those saved are given two choices, either learn to fight the Titans or live peacefully on a planet protected by the Flarconeans. The three boys are determined to fight and save the human race, or die trying.

This fast paced science fiction story will have you on the edge of your seat. I am not a huge science fiction fan, but I really enjoyed this book. I felt like I was part of the story and could relate to the close bonds formed by the main characters during this desperate time.
