I Can't Believe This Book is Out of Print!,
By
This review is from: Lord of the Storm (Dreamspun) (Paperback)
Captain Shaylah Graymist, hero of the Coalition and ace fighter pilot, was tired and more than ready for a little r & r. She heads over to visit her old friend, Califa, and finds that Califa has a little surprise gift in store for her - Wolf, a pleasure slave. Shaylah is stunned when she sees the gorgeous man that Califa has saved for her to try out. She has always hated the Coalition's slave policy, but she is undeniably drawn to the sexy man ready to serve her every whim. Still, she cannot force herself to use the control that operates the slave color Wolf wears to make him want her. Shaylah decides that it is better just to keep him around so that he won't be punished anymore and to treat him like a human being for the first time in many long years.Wolf doesn't know what to make of Shaylah. He was expecting another Coalition officer who would be only too happy to take advantage of his many charms, but Shaylah was different. She seemed to truly care for him and spent a whole week without using his body. Wolf finally found someone that he could open up to and told Shaylah a bit about his life on Trios, the gorgeous planet that was captured through trickery by the intergalactic Coalition - the same Coalition that Shaylah works for. When Shaylah betrays his trust at the end of the week, Wolf is furious and feels that Shaylah was just playing with him to give his captors the key to break him. When he becomes uncontrollable, Califa sells him to the brutal mining colony that is the last stop for rebellious slaves. When Shaylah discovers what happened to Wolf because she wanted the pleasure of one evening in Wolf's arms, she feels responsible and heads out across the galaxy to save him. They are forced to hide on her ship together to try to avoid Coalition notice and the close quarters change their relationship into something more intimate, but not quite the friendship that they shared when they first met. Shaylah has just about convinced Wolf that she truly feels for him when he finds out that she has been keeping critical information from him - some of his fellow Triotians are alive! Determined to rejoin his people, Wolf forces Shaylah to take him there and nothing can prepare Shaylah for what she will find on the planet of Trios... I am so glad that I found this book for sale on the internet. It is well written and the characters are wonderful! I really liked Wolf and Shaylah and thought that the worlds that they explored throughout their adventures were well developed, too. the book is a fast, fun read that is fast paced and can be read in a couple of hours. I am eagerly awaiting the arrival of the sequel, The Skypirate, which I hope will be just as good. I know the price is a little high to buy this book but the relationship between Wolf and Shaylah is hot, hot, hot and you will love the story so find a copy and buy it!

A great book,

Well this is an older book that i had bought years ago and put on my to read shelf and then it got pushed to the back of the pile until recently, I'm very glad I found it. Its a very enjoyable quick read that has you cheering for the hero and heroine at one moment and the crying the next. This is a a sci-fi/futuristic romance. The story starts off with the heroine, Captian Shaylah Graymist taking a much needed and deserved leave from her post. She is a decorated hero of the Coalition and her reward is Wolf, the hero of the story. Wolf is a slave who is kept in line with the use of a collar that can control his emotions and punish him if her doesn't please her. Wolf is from the planet Trios, a world that the Coalition savagedly destroyed and only a handful of people survived. He is a perfectly shapped man who has been used to pleasure many. and yet is is never allowed to have any pleasure or freedom himself. Shaylah decides to give him his freedom because even though she is part of the Coalition she hates it policies. She must rescue him and together they must fight for his freedom and their growing feelings for each other. This is a both tragic and wonderously amazing tale of two people from different cultures trying to build a new one. I am so please i found this book and I'm looking forward to finding the sequel.

Finally, scifi and romance merge for great result!!!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Lord of the Storm (Dreamspun) (Paperback)
If you can find a copy of this book or its sequel, the Skypirate, pick it up and get wrapped up in an all-out action adventure scifi romance. It
certainly is time someone combined the two, and
Justine Davis does it with flair, excitement, and
pure sensual heat. Both books are well worth
finding and reading.

I thought this was lots of fun, and I am a sci-fi aficionado. What was left to the imagination was fun for my imagination to supply.
The story explores the idea of power (Imagine that! A romance novel with a brain!)-Is it possible to love if one partner has more power than the other? Though power starts out on one side of the equation, a balance is achieved, and then tables are turned-making for interesting and provocative reading. A jaded captain, whose ideals have been trampled by the evil Coalition she is forced to serve, seeks refuge at a resort. A 'friend', a master of manipulation, presents the Captain with a magnificent collared slave, one of the few survivors of the legendary planet Trios. Everything she's ever dreamed of is now within the Captain's power to command, at the touch of a button. But taking it would destroy what she really desires, and trample her ideals even further. There is irresistible temptation, and when the Captain slips just a little over the line, unforeseen consequences lead to grief and remorse. No matter what the cost, she must atone. Risking her life, and destroying her career, she will rescue the slave she unintentionally betrayed. She promises him anything he asks, and his demand overturns all her plans. Power is balanced and fortunes are reversed. The Captain has a dose of her own medicine, and learns that sometimes, when you appear to be losing everything, you just might be getting back your heart-and your soul. This had something I see in too few books, movies or TV shows: architecture. The story was well built and well told, with real wrestling between the two protagonists and genuine exploration of ideas-very tangy and honest. If you can find it, don't miss it!

Star Trek meets Romeo and Juliet,

This review is from: Lord of the Storm (Dreamspun) (Paperback)
As a sci fi fan and a hopeless romantic I was pleasantly surprised by this book. I liked the fact that the heroine was a high ranking captain and not a helpless 'damsel in distress'. And the big and powerful Wolf needed her help instead of the other way around. These two individuals were meant to be sworn enemies but fall in love instead. Who can hate a story like that? I have not read 'Skypirate' yet but it is next on my list. Wolf's description of what 'bonding to a mate' means was very moving. We should all hope for such 'bonding'.

Step into toe curling romance among the stars!,

This review is from: Lord of the Storm (Dreamspun) (Paperback)
With a drop-dead georgous hero (Fabio eat your heart out) and a strong, smart, courageous heroine, how can this story miss? If you need to spend a little time escaping from the humdrum everday doldrums, this book will carry you away. It offers aventure and romance amid a backdrop of the brilliant stars of the Milkyway, with well written love scenes that will make your toes curl!
Wolf, who has lost everything and the valiant Shaylah, who is willing to give up everything, battle what seem to be insurmountable odds. Justine Davis spins an extraordinary tale, with a heroine in charge of her own destiny, willing to fight for what she wants, and the man she loves.

Out Of This World Romance,
By ccleon "83" (PA, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Lord of the Storm (Dreamspun) (Paperback)
Lord of the Storm is an awesome book. Everywhere I read comments on other futuristic novels this book and it's sequel The Skypirate was recommended. The novel was based on the heroine's point of view which to me was different because I'm used to reading about the thoughts and feelings of the hero also it would of been nice to have an idea of what was going on in his mind on some of the things he said and did. I liked that the heroine was strong but at the same time feminine and I fell in love with the hero right away he was strong sexy and caring he didn't do things without reason to punish the heroine. I don't like when they are so overly stubborn that it annoys you because all you want to do is slap sense in them. The story was very unique and well developed the ending was a little speedy and we didn't get the revenge we wanted them to have but I guess we didn't because the story would have had to go on a lot more and because than they're probably wouldn't be a second part to it. It's going to be interesting to read about Califa Shayla's friend in the second novel The Skypirate she was portrayed to be cold hearted in this novel. Justine Davis definately has quite an imagination the things described and talked about were awesome. I just don't know how they come up with so many neat things. To me sci/fi futuristic novels seem to be hardest to write because of the detail there has to be to a made up world but they are also the most fun.

Loved this Out-of-Print Intergalactic Love Story,
By Dakota "daxydakota" (Southern California) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Lord of the Storm (Dreamspun) (Paperback)
LORD OF THE STORM by Justine Davis was an excellent read! A futuristic romance, it is the story of Sahylah Graymist, heroic Captain of a starfighter for the Coalition, and Wolf, the last of a people opposed to the Coalition, who is given to Shaylah as a pleasure slave. Seeing the proud, regal Wolf in chains is too much for Shaylah, who sets out to free him, even if it means becoming a traitor and risking her own life. This story is gripping, to say the least, and full of steamy love scenes. It's also amazing to read a romance where the heroine is in charge, and is the one doing all the saving. At the same time, the not-so-perfect heroine does something so profoundly stupid that you just want to choke her - and you can't help but read more, wondering how Wolf will respond, and if he'll ever forgive her. I loved this book and can't help but wonder why it is out of print (though it's worth the effort of buying used). Happily, I understand it has a sequel called SKYPIRATE, which plenty of reviewers have raved about. I can't wait to read it.
FYI: For more intergalactic sci-fi romances, look for SHIELDER by Catherine Spangler, WARRIOR'S WOMAN by Johanna Lindsey, and KNIGHT OF A TRILLION STARS by Dara Joy. All are the beginning of series.

My favorite Sci-Fi romance of all time!,

I also disagree with the reviewer who gave it 1 star. This book was much better than Skypirate! I would give it 10 stars if I could. If you can find a copy of this book, get it! It's even better than the Matrix of Destiny series (Knight of a Trillion Stars, Rejar, Mine To Take) which are my next favorites.
