5.0 out of 5 stars An AWESOME Medieval!
How did I miss this book when it came out last summer! What an awesome story! I blazed thru LORD OF VENGEANCE in a couple of days and was very sorry when I came to the end. Tina St. John has written an emotional, fast paced story packed with action and romance and so many wonderful characters. I felt like I was right there with Gunnar and Raina the whole time, and I...

This had all the elements of a great read ... but it lacked something. I was just unsatisfied. I'd read something by her in the future, when she has honed her skill.

I have to say giving the IMPRESSION that the villian Niel had any real power over anyone was stupid - he was just a knight status-wise, they were all listening to him?! Unbelievable! (not a good...

Tina St. John has written an emotional, fast paced story packed with action and romance and so many wonderful characters. I felt like I was right there with Gunnar and Raina the whole time, and I just adored Alaric (Gunnar's squire) and even crotchety old Agnes!

If you like the medievals of Lynn Kurland or Elizabeth Elliot, you're going to love Tina St. John! And I'm so glad to see she has a new one out next month! Keep them coming, Ms. St. John!

This is the first book I've read by Ms. St. John and it was a good one. More than just your typical hero rescues heroine story. This one has heart and delves into the idea of forgiveness and getting on with your life. Good story. Try ONCE A WARRIOR by Karyn Monk if you liked this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Now this is my favorite book!, November 2, 2000

As I said previously for St. John,'s Lady of Valour, I am in awe of this author. But mostly i'm peeved for not discovering her sooner, but at least I did. :) This is a more tempestutous book that Lady, but just as fine, just as poignant. Lord of Vengeance is a book you do not want to miss, whether you read romance or not! I am sure this book will change your mind or at least give you hours of reading pleasure. Gunnar and Raina were absolutely delightful and the way he grew and changed in the face of true love after losing so much in his life, was a joy to read and live. I wish the book were longer!! Fantastic job. I cannot wait to meet Ms. St. John in person! Thank you.

5.0 out of 5 stars 5 Stars are not enough!, November 10, 2003

This book has it all. Romance, passion, suspense, excitement, humor, and great love scenes.
Gunnar and Raina are a very believable couple. Gunnar is a powerful knight, but not inhumanly untouchable. Raina is innocent, but she has courage and strength. They don't fall in love too fast, nor are you made to wait until the last pages for their relationship to blossom. When they do come together, they are magic. You can't help but feel joy for them.
Gunnar is a proud knight, and the Lord of his castle. He is brave and strong, but his soul is lost in a quest for vengeance against the man who slew his parents. His heart and his life are changed forever when innocent Raina gives him her favor at a tournament of local knights. To his dismay, he finds out that she is the daughter of the very man he seeks to kill. As a man of honor, Gunnar refuses to take the man's life in any way other than a man to man battle. To insure that Raina's father will meet him in battle, Gunnar steals her away to his humble castle. All the while, another nemesis seeks to destroy both Gunnar and Raina's father. What will become of them all? You'll have to read the book to find out!
At 325 pages, I still read this book in one day... because I simply could not put it down. Never boring, you'll enjoy the fierce sword battles, romantic loves scenes, and humorous antics of Gunnar's knights.

5.0 out of 5 stars Prepare to fall in love..., March 21, 2000
By
LORD OF VENGEANCE is a colorful tale of medieval pageantry that centers around a knight driven by his hunger for vengeance and the beautiful innocent who reclaims his soul from the grip of hatred; who teaches him to feel again, and to love.

Beautiful, memorable, with a fresh, lyrical voice and vivid imagery. The plot whizzes along with an edge-of-your-seat suspense subplot featuring one of the most cunningly wicked villains I've seen in a long time. A powerful debut, and I for one am anxiously awaiting LADY OF VALOR...

5.0 out of 5 stars This book is a must read for lovers of Medieval Romance!, June 17, 1999

I fell in love with Gunnar Rutledge from page one. And when Raina d'Bussy entered the scene, proud and nobel, she captured my heart as well. Fast paced with page turning chapters kept me glued right up to its heart-warming end. This book left me with the knowledge that true love spans all times and truly avails.

Tina St. John has mastered the craft of writing and will be on the scene for a long time to come! She weaves wonderfully spun tales to escape with and leaves you with a smile on your face.

Look out romance world here comes Tina St. John. LORD OF VENGEANCE is one of the best romances that I have ever read. I couldn't put it down. Gunnar was definitely the hero of my dreams, and Raina, his perfect lady love. When these two are together, the sparks fly and the temperature goes through the roof!! Bravo, Ms. St. John! Bring on LADY OF VALOR. I can't wait!

4.0 out of 5 stars Extremely Good Medieval, July 15, 2002
By

(VINE VOICE)    (REAL NAME)
This was an extremely good medieval tale of two people who must overcome each of their own struggles. Gunnar Rutledge's life so far was spent in waiting for the day he could seek the vengeance he deemed was his over the man who nearly took his life and family from him.

Raina d'Bussy, his enemies daughter, could not believe her father capable of the horrors Gunnar blamed him for. Captured and held hostage in an effort to force her father to meet him on the field of battle, Gunnar would become the hostage, the hostage of his heart and the love he felt for his captive. Raina would have to question just where her loyalties would lie when faced with the unbearable truths of her heritage.

This is a wonderfully rich tale told amidst the very brutal and bloody days of the early 1100's of England. Rich in history and adventure. Super exciting read for this authors maiden novel.
