A good read with an interesting take on the post-Arthur mythos. There are some very funny references to modern times and the characters are interesting. The main gripe I have with it is that it's very similar to Sword of Darkness. The plotline is fairly identical & the main characters have very similar traits as well. If you've read Sword of Darkness then you sort of know exactly how this is going to turn out. Other than the art is good once again & the pace is fairly efficient. Overall a decent read and worth a look.

Captivating writting as always from Ms. Kenyon. Wounderful art work. Although I am readingmore and more e-books it is products like this that keeps me purchasing "real" books as well as virtual books.

Adapting a text to a graphic novel is extremely difficult. However, I will have to say that Sherrilyn Kenyon's adaptation of Knight of Darkness captures the essence of the novel. As a matter of fact I almost like the graphic novel better than the book.

This is a manga-style graphic novel of best-selling author Sherrilyn Kenyon's lord of Avalon series. I must admit, I enjoyed reading this book even though I don't read many comics these days. Although the story mostly centers on Varian, son of Morgen's second in command and Merriwen, my favorite character by far is Blaise. He is absolutely adorable and I love his funny sense of humor! The art is cute and pretty, and detailed enough to have funny things going on in each scene, (such as the ferret Eric). I also found Varian to be more interesting than the hero of the last one who was a bit silly with his "I'm such a bad darkety dark brooding guy."
I particularly enjoyed the way Varian and Blaise are drawn, and I found the scene with the triplets to be amusing. Merlin and his girlfriend Nimue were a nice touch. My only disappointment is there isn't a sequel- yet. But never fear, the third book in the series will be out in the fall, and I hope the graphic novel will be soon to follow. This book is suitable for teens and adults, and lacks the gratuitous clothing-popping-off scenes, orgies, in the previous volume which pushed it more into the adult side of comics. I would say this is more around PG-13, with some sexual reference, but nothing too explicit. |
