Book Description

March 1, 1976
The Scots always required strong kings, and into the power vacuum which the early Stewarts could not fill came the Douglases. When the Second Earl of Douglas is slain at the Battle of Otterburn, foul play is alleged against the Stewarts. This is the first part of the "House of Stewart" trilogy.

The continuing story of the House of Stewart, as seen through the eyes of Jamie Douglas, a minor Scottish lord.

Those who followed the ultra-competent monarch Robert the Bruce were basically useless. They were happy to sit around and allow others do the work, so the next Robert Stewarts let the earls hold the power.
