Fulfilling her mothers dying wish, Allie climbs a wooded hill just before midnight on SamhainAll Hallows Eve. At the top, she finds an overgrown, magical stone circle, and her destiny. Waiting for her there are twin alpha werewolves who will be her sworn protectors, her mentorsand the loves of her life. If she lives long enough. Overprotective is just one word to describe Rafe and Tim. Sexy is most definitely another. But their newfound love and all their skillsboth mundane and magicalwill be tested by an ancient evil. A hostile human mage and a misguided vampire hunt them, servants to secret plans of the ancient Venifucus, a society dedicated to destroying women like Allie. They will earn unlikely allies, including a half-fey knight imprisoned Underhill for centuries. But will it be enough to battle the evil that stalks them? Will Allies men be strong enough to let her aid them in her own defense? Only together can were, fey and vampire defeat this latest threat and learn that love does truly conquer all. Warning, this title contains explicit sex and mnage a trois.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderfully entertaining!, January 31, 2007
Bravo Ms D'Arc! What a great paranormal read! The characters engaging and likeable, the sex scenes hot, and the story fast paced and flowing easily.

For fans of the paranormal romance genre who've enjoyed Lora Leigh, Shiloh Walker and Angela Knight, this is a great read, highly recommended. I won't go into the plot-you can read it in the previous review or in the book description. What I will tell you is what I liked about the story.

First, it is fast paced. I did not feel the need to put the book down for a break because it felt like the story had gotten stuck. A lot of detail is great, but you can get really bogged down in details, and spending too much time in the characters head. It gets boring. Give me action & interaction!

Secondly, the author explains things. Again, without bogging us down in details, and I never felt lost. No bizarre terms known only to the writer and the characters. No wishing I had a glossary so I could understand. While I appreciate the creation of a new world, etc., I do not like feeling lost and Ms D'Arc manages to explain the "Were" world and its terms by incorporating it into the story, primarily by the introduction of Allie into this world. While perhaps not as complex as the worlds of Christine Feehan & Sherrilyn Kenyon (who do a good job explaining as well) it still needs to be understood and she does this very well.

Third, she blends multiple worlds, fey, were, vampire & magic seamlessly. This is not easy to do. I've read stories where the writer tried to pack too many "other" creatures into one story, which causes confusion. Here, the different creatures are explained, including their relationships w/each other.

Fourth, she has a great supporting cast of characters. Since I think the plan is to continue this series, she has left the door for several of the secondary characters to re-emerge as leads.

Finally, the love scenes between Allie and her 2 mates are hot. Yes, thats TWO. This romance pushes the envelope in terms of content, so if you are not into reading this type of erotic romance, keep this in mind.

My only complaint is that I wish there was a bit more conflict, resolution seemed a bit too quick, but as an introductory in to this world, it works. I also wish Rafe & Tim had been in wolf form more often and interacted with Allie as such. However, the bottom line for me is this: I want to be entertained, to escape into another world for a few hours. This story did that for me. I am looking forward to more in this series and to reading others from this author.

5.0 out of 5 stars 5 Klovers! Courtesy of CK2S Kwips & Kritiques, January 28, 2007
'Lords of the Were' was my Recommended Read for the month of November 2006!

Allesandra must be consecrated as the new Priestess by midnight on Samhain. Having grown up orphaned and ignorant of her mystical heritage, she has had little training so far, and even less time to become used to her new role, but she trusts her mentor, Betina.

When the Lords of the Were, twin alpha werewolves Rafe and Tim join the ceremony, she is even more unprepared for their sudden presence in her life and the effect they have on her, but she is definitely not complaining!

As soon as Rafe and Tim lay eyes on Allie, they realize they've found their shared mate, and will do anything to protect her from the dark powers that threaten her life.

Until now, I would have told you that the Dragon Knights series was my favorite from Bianca D'Arc, but with the release of Lords of the Were, she launches a new series called `Tales of the Were' which has quickly tied for first place in my favors with the Dragon Knights series!

The two series have some interesting parallels that somehow manage to come across differently in the two sagas. Both series star lead characters that are pure of heart and character and storylines which make the ménage storylines seem natural and almost innocent, and yet the contemporary setting for Lords of the Were somehow lends the tale more grit and spice. Like the Dragon Knights series, Lords of the Were succeeds in turning the ménage concept into a beautiful love story with plenty of steam!

Fans of the fantasy genre will be excited to meet a vampire, mages, fey, and weres of several species in this new series! With strong supporting characters representing each of these species, readers are teased with ideas of future stories perhaps starring each and every one of these intriguing people.

With Lords of the Were, the author has successfully launched a series that promises a rich and multi-layered world that will keep us entertained for many sequels to come!

5.0 out of 5 stars 5 Anels and a Recommended Read Rating, May 7, 2007
Allesandra knew there were many things she'd need to become accustomed to as a new priestess of the Lady, but she never imagined anything like Tim and Rafe, twin Lords of the were. From the first meeting she felt an undeniable attraction to them. Finding out that they were her predetermined mates didn't lessen her feelings for them. With an insane wizard, an unwitting vampire, and secret society eons old bent on destroying her and her new family, bonds and trust are tested.

Lords of the Were is the first in a new series that I hope is as long and varied as the characters in this, the premiere episode. Bianca D'Arc has taken what could have been a tawdry and, for some, disturbing act and turned it into a loving and understandable bond. Ms. D'Arc has always been on my auto buy list. With Lords of the Were she has shown that even a fantastic author can grow. The characters have depth and consistent emotions just as in her other books, but Allie, Rafe, and Tim carry a grittier, tougher, almost jaded feel with aplomb. I have had the pleasure of watching Ms. D'Arc evolve and cannot wait to see what else she has in store for her fans.
