Best box hair dye,

Best box hair dye yet! I previously had bleach blonde hair (my hair is naturally medium brown). As you can probably guess my hair was in the worst possible shape after bleaching it for 2 years straight. It became very dry & I had to keep cutting it shorter & shorter since it just broke off all over. (I don't recommend ever bleaching your hair ever if you want to keep your long hair long or keep a specific hair style - the bleach won't allow you to keep a specific hair cut - I promise that). I began to use the at home Loreal Excellence hair dye & slowly after not flat ironing & hair drying my hair but showering at night & letting it air dry, it has grown & is much longer & getting thicker. I've tried the other Loreal Superior Preference & it dries it a little more than the Excellence. I like the Pre-cream that you apply to your hair prior to hair dying. As for the color I'm a medium brown (more on the dark side than the light side). I used the color Light Beige Brown 6BB & it comes out very nice. I have a lot of red undertones & this is the perfect color for me to get rid of the red/brassiness. I highly recommend the Excellence Loreal brand to those that want to keep their hair in healthy condition & not have damage to their ends.

Red Penny,
By
This review is from: L'Oreal Paris Excellence Crème with Pro-Keratine Complex, Red Penny 7R (Misc.)
I've used this shade off and on for years. Go to a professional for blonde and highlights, but if you want red, go to this. The Red Penny shade is so beautiful when it's applied to a medium/dark blonde base. Years ago I used it over brown and the auburn it created was nice, but faded quickly. Use it on blonde and you'll be happy for weeks. I get more compliments with this color than anything else by a mile. The most recent Excellence formula gives you a serum to apply to dry ends before coloring. It's wonderful. Usually I get a dry, almost crispy feel to my hair the first few days to a week after a home dye, but I did not experience it with this, surely because of the serum. I should mention that this dye can turn an odd, almost frightening red early on in the processing and it might scare you into rinsing it out too soon. Let it go and step away from the mirror. This red turns to an orange and then to a dark purple, and after 30 minutes the end result will be perfect. It all rinses cleanly in warm water and feels soft afterwards. EDIT: Colored my hair again with the Excellence product, but this time I went with Light Auburn because Red Penny was sold out when I went to buy it. Another winner. I'm really blown away by how nice these dyes are making my hair feel, I'm sure because of the pre-treatment you apply to the roots beforehand. My hair is a beautiful shade of auburn and very soft. Also, another thing to try if you have dry ends after coloring, apply a very tiny amount of olive oil to the ends and go as long as you can without washing. A very scant amount goes a long way---apply too much and you'll look like a greasy rat. I can usually only go 24 hours without washing because my roots are greasy, but the olive oil really helps to nourish the splits. I also apply the olive oil to the ends a few times the week before I color. Anyway, just wanted to report the Light Auburn is also a winner. I love having control over the red shade. I have never been happy with the reds they come up with at the salon.

Turned My Roots Copper Penny Red!!,

This review is from: L'Oreal Paris Excellence Crème with Pro-Keratine Complex, Dark Chocolate Brown 4AR (Misc.)
I have been using Excellence Dark Chocolate Brown 4AR, for a few years and the color has always been perfect. I had purchased 3 boxes of hair color from this vendor. I applied the first box of color, and my gray roots turned bright copper. Thinking it was a fluke, I applied the second box of color 2 weeks later and AGAIN, bright copper roots. I called L'Oreal and was informed that the hair color I was sold, is outdated and had expired quite some time ago. A word to the wise..take caution in buying hair color from this vendor, it is beyond annoying, and a waste of money!!

Not really blonde, more ash gray,

This review is from: L'Oreal Paris Excellence Crème with Pro-Keratine Complex, Lightest Beige Blonde 10BB (Misc.)
I bought this shade because the shade I was using which I believe was 9-1/2 NB, for Natural Blonde, would end up with gold or red highlights as it wore between colorings. I thought this shade would help neutralize that reddish shade. Too much!!!!! This color comes out a very ashy grayish blonde, not really beige until I've washed it for about two weeks and the color fades some. It definitely does away with the red/gold tint, but waaaaay too much. I'm switching colors back to a natural blonde shade. No more beige for this girl. But the formula itself, independent of the color, works very well and is easy to put on. It's very drip resistant so it doesn't make a mess everywhere. It seems to leave my hair in fairly decent shape as well and the after color conditioner is helpful too and smells good. Much cheaper than a salon and does a good job if you take the time to apply it carefully.

Turned my hair silver grey,

This review is from: L'Oreal Paris Excellence Crème with Pro-Keratine Complex, Lightest Beige Blonde 10BB (Misc.)
I liked the idea of the beige blonde look, but it made my hair more like a dark beige and it turned it a silver grey color, which was pretty but not what I wanted. Luckily, it washed out with a lemon juice and conditioner mix that I used. I also liked the idea that it softened mature features, but with the silver grey in my hair, I felt like it made me look older.

I typically use 6R (sort of an orange-based auburn) because it is the desired color right away (rather than being dark and purplish for the first couple of weeks). Feeling confident with Excellence Creme, I found this color hoping to go bit lighter, praying it have the same aforementioned quality. My faith was well placed and it turned out very nice. These two shades always do me right and I don't dare use anything else!

Several nice features,
I usually use Preference by L'Oreal, but decided to try the Excellence because I really liked this Maple shade. The product works just as well as Preference, and has two advantages.
1. I like the creme for putting on the ends of your hair. I have longish hair, and I put this on my hair starting about 4 inches below the roots. It keeps too much color from depositing on the roots. Otherwise, over time with coloring the old growth at the ends starts to look darker than the roots, which is the opposite of how natural hair color would look. 2. I like the comb applicator. It comes out really fast, so be careful. Since I do root application first, and only put color on the ends for the last 5 minutes, this comb makes the root application go really fast. By the way, I didn't find this color to be too red. I do have a lot of reddish undertone to my hair, and this color looks very much like my natural color which I always consider reddish brown. It looks better, in my opinion, than the "golden" browns, which I find to be to golden-orange. This is a nice rich brown, with red undertones.

I was looking for a dark brown hair color, and was shocked when I got out of the shower and my hair was BLACK. If youre looking for REALLY dark hair, get this, but if youre looking for more of a brown, I do not recommend this product.

This review is from: L'Oreal Paris Excellence Crème with Pro-Keratine Complex, Ash Blonde 8A (Misc.)
This can be used as a toner :) You can use this and choose a color that you like after about a week and it will look great!
Okay, that's all I've got to say! Try it:P |
