4.0 out of 5 stars A Good Book on Pasta, June 28, 2000

This review is from: Lorenza's Pasta: 200 Recipes for Family and Friends (Paperback)
Not your classic cookbook; dedicated to pasta, this teaches you about the culture around pasta and all its uses. The instructions on how to make pasta should be more detailed. But everything I have cooked from here has been well received.

4.0 out of 5 stars Solid Primer in Pasta, April 14, 1998
By A Customer
Beautifully created and photographed, this primer teaches the basics of pasta. With easy to use recipes, simple techniques, the outcome is always tasty. Lorenza's recipe on basic pasta could use a little more description but overall it is a solid book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Cook Book, September 15, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Lorenza's Pasta: 200 Recipes for Family and Friends (Paperback)
I purchased this book once before a long time ago, and then lost it. I made the Fettuccine alle Carote e Scampi, and for a person that does not cook, it was one of the most delishous meals that I have ever had. A high quality dish, it made me feel as though I was a chef. (Actually, maybe there IS hope for me,yet!) I can't wait to try the other recipes.

The book is soft covered. I originally had the hard cover book, but no matter, the same recipes are there so I am excited to have it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing both in looks and recipes, September 17, 2010
This review is from: Lorenza's Pasta: 200 Recipes for Family and Friends (Paperback)
Back in 2002, this won an award for best Best Food Photography by The James Beard Foundation and I'll kid you not, this is one stunning, stunning book. It's good enough to leave out as a coffee table book and let people salivate while you're making the dinner!

As far as the recipes go, all the ones I've tried have been spot on and I've made time and again.

The cooking instructions are clear and, best for those of us who love exacting measurements, list both Metric and Imperial (aka the measurements we use in the US). This helps replicate the recipe exactly as she had intended it.

This is not a beginner's cookbook. Many of these ingredients go beyond what you might want to shop for and may take more time than you're willing to devote. That being said, if you love to cook, and love Italian pasta, you can't go wrong with this book.

This review is from: Lorenza's Pasta: 200 Recipes for Family and Friends (Paperback)
I used to be suspicious of beautiful cookbooks, not so with Signora De'Medici. Her recipes are reliable and delicious and this book, like her others, is a pleasure to cook from. There is also interesting information on all types of pasta, regional information and reproductions of old images of pasta vendors, pasta makers, pasta wolfers etc. But best of all the recipes are simple, tasty and I've never had one that didn't work out really well.
