Good day images, so-so at night...,
This review is from: Lorex CVC6993R Color Indoor/Outdoor Camera with Night Vision (Electronics)
I have essentially the same model - just shiny aluminum instead of black. They're both the same specs, though.
During the day, this camera looks very good. Color is bright and the video is pretty sharp considering the small size of the optics. The camera mounted easily with three screws and a single thumb screw allows you to adjust where the camera points. One little thing I noticed, though, is when you tighten the thumb screw, the camera tries to pull a bit to the right. Make sure you take that into account when fine tuning the framing of your shot. Unfortunately, the night vision isn't that great. The image is very noisy and doesn't reach even half the rated distance without some light in the area. With the flood lights on my building, the image is acceptable at the full 50 feet - but that's looking along the front of the building where the lights are the strongest. Looking out into the lot where the light falls off, the image is useless. For my use, it's fine. However, not everyone has 300 watts of flood lights covering the area. Most people will see maybe 15-20 feet maximum. In short, for most night use, this is a close-up area camera for getting a shot of people entering doors. For anything more than that, step up to something better. For day use, it's quite good.

When I secured the camera mount on the metal soffits under my eves, I found that the horizontal hold became very flaky. It seemed that there was electrical interference. I was able to solve this problem by securing a piece of wood on the soffit, and then screwing the mount into that piece of wood. Problem solved.
Overall I am very happy with the camera. It has a good wide angle (but not too wide) view.

Indoor/outdoor camera to supplement Lorex system,
By Debbie Lee Wesselmann (the Lehigh Valley, PA) - See all my reviews (TOP 50 REVIEWER) (VINE VOICE) (2008 HOLIDAY TEAM) (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Lorex CVC6993R Color Indoor/Outdoor Camera with Night Vision (Electronics)
This sturdy camera with a metal housing is meant to replace or to supplement one of the wired Lorex security systems. It comes with 60' of extension cable to connect to the main DVR, just as the cameras do bundled with the security system. The images are sharp and in color for daytime shots, but they switch to a grainer (though still surprisingly clear) black-and-white at night. The camera is relatively small (it fits easily in my palm), but it packs a wallop in wide-angle range.
Before purchasing this camera, make sure that your DVR has room for another camera connection. If you purchased Lorex LH108321C8B 8-Camera Network Video Surveillance System with 320GB H.264 DVR (Black), you will already have your maximum number of cameras, unless, of course, one fails. Those who have DVRs with eight channels but only four or so camera can be assured that this is the same quality camera as the others.
