A video reveiw would really stink on this if I used the video this junk camera shows me at a distance of about thirty feet.
I waited too long to get a refund on this camera while I was waiting to find some decent software to use with it.
Still havent found anything good to record with,this is a serveillance camera,right? more like a baby cam , U can use a web cam for that.

If you purchase this security camera for outdoor use, be sure to also purchase and upgraded 5.8MGh transmitter/Receiver A/V with IF. We bought the camera to watch a pregnant mare in the barn and the static over the t.v. kept us up. The upgraded equipment made it so much better. This is a 900 MGh system so your cordless phones and household appliances will interfere!!

I added this portable camera to my wired Lorex system. For those that complain about the picture quality, it is because of the wireless interference. It didn't take me long to reposition the receiver to get a better signal (I used a longer video cable to mount the receiver higher). The quality matches it's price. It is used to monitor my teenage kid's parties. It's not good at detail, so I don't recommend it for front door or reading license plates. The night vision is also adequate for the price. It has enough IR for a 20x20 room. Remember, more IR's require more power which produces more heat.

If you use the 2 camera system, it will switch between the two. It doesn't simultaneously view both cameras. I forget what frequency it uses, but the receiver is around 5 ft from my linksys wireless G router. I also have a wireless phone system (10 handsets) using dect 6 which doesn't cause any interference. When I mounted the receiver too low (4 ft) I notice video interference whenever someone walked by the receiver. Mounting it closer to the ceiling cleared up all interference.

THE LOREX SYSTEM IS NOT BAD. THE CUSTOMER SERVICE, I.E. SALES, TECH SUPPORT, AND GENERAL ADMINISTRATION OF THE OPERATION IS REALLY BAD. IF YOU CAN GET SOMETHING FROM A BETTER COMPANY, DO SO. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THESE PEOPLE.

Beware: Don't be fooled by the example photos given in the Amazon description, even under the best lighting conditions the colors are washed out to almost grey.
Pros:
Practicality: Having the ability to just plug it into a wall socket somewhere close is great, like monitoring your children in the back yard, or it even comes with a 9 volt battery adapter you can just place it anywhere within in transmission range (which in a typically application is shorter than than a extra long extension cord) The transmission is pretty good all things considered. In an apartment complex with brick exterior I had an effective range of about 75 feet, you would probably take it out a little further but the audio was hissing so bad that it render the mic useless and there was static starting to form in the picture. In regards to the static, you probably won't want to use this camera for a DVR that has motion detection because the static will set of the motion detection

Has audio and the audio works pretty well as long as you don't get to far away from the receiver.

Cons:
Picture quality is terrible, all of the colors are washed out, especially red and black colors. Anything that has a tint of red in it will show up as almost white or slightly purple (be it natural light or indoor light). I couldn't find the resolution of this camera anywhere on line nor on the box in the store. It wasn't until I found in the packaging that is 360 lines, most low end systems are at least 380.

It does see at knight pretty well in a very short distance, but it creates a very noticeable halo effect and it seems to be due to the infrared lights clustering their focal points in the center.

The biggest disappointment with product has to be the color. I don't expect it high def photos, but I do expect to it have a picture quality at least 80% of what you can find in a $10 web cam and is just not the case.

Advice: This camera MIGHT work for you if running wires is impractical because of lack of skill, or right of way, or time, and you can put up with the subpar video. If you want it strictly for security and don't put much weight in the color part of it, then I would look for something in black and white and do away with the color all together.

My intended use for this product was to use it as crib cam that sits about 10 feet from a Slingbox. I will be returning this product as I find it of unacceptable performance

bought to use with my laptop via usb. box stated product will provide audio and video. after installing "amcap" icon appeas on desktop. click on the shortcut and video appears but no audio. go to the lorex site for troubleshooting tips only to find....well nothing. Searched via google for additional but not much out there. after extensive searching i find a few references that indicate getting the audio to work will be a chore.
Tried on xp and vista laptops, same issues.
When i purchase something I don't want or need to spend hours researching how to make the product do what it says it will do.

save your money unless you like troubleshooting
