Lorex LW2201AC1 works with Lorex Ultra Digital Wireless Systema (Lorex LW2201 or Lorex LW2602). This is very simple and easy to install surveillance system. This color camera is wireless (from the receiver) and solidly constructed for outdoor use/installation. It also capture sound (built-in mic) and able to see in the total darkness with the help of the infra-red LEDs. The receiver for this Lorex systems (not included in this LW2201AC1 package) can take up to 4 cameras to see 4 different location at the same time.

Pros:
1. Wireless operation (between camera and receiver)
2. Wireless distance is reasonable/usable (advertised up to 450 feet)
3. Mic included in the camera (will capture sound)
4. Camera has night vision mode that can see at zero light (with the help of infra-red LEDs)
5. Color video/camera when not in night vision mode.
6. 640 X 480 VGA resolution (at 12 FPS, or 320 X 240 at 30 FPS)
7. Easy to install and configure
8. Can use up to 4 camera simultaneously (view all 4 camera on one screen) - Receiver not included in this package
9. Camera is solidly build for outdoor installation
10. Image quality is good (much better than the average security camera)

Cons:
1. Wireless distance vary depending on the type of environment (concrete walls, other signal interference, etc)
2. Sound range is limited and the mic is not very sensitive
3. Camera viewing range is reduced on night vision mode
4. This Lorex surveillance system is not wi-fi enabled (or able to be seen/accessed through the internet)
5. The infra-red LED glows (so it is not suitable if you need a covert night cam)

In summary, Lorex LW2201AC1 Weatherproof color camera for Ultra Digital Wireless Surveillance System has good image quality, capture sound, night vision enabled, wireless color camera, easy to install and configure.

Also check the following options:

- If you are building a security system from scratch and need viewing screen/LCD, at least 2 cameras, and a wireless camera receiver, then get the Lorex LW2602 package

- If you already have your own TV/LCD/Recorder and just looking for a camera and a wireless receiver, then get the LW2201 package

- If you already have the LW2201 camera package (which include the wireless receiver) and just need additional cameras, then get this Lorex LW2201AC1 Additional Camera

We ordered a Lorex (LW2201) wireless system in early August so it could be set up for our absence in September. One camera did not see in the dark and the other saw only in black and white. The receiver was defective. The complete system was sent back to Lorex. Lorex returned one camera and one receiver, shorting me one camera, which was fine because on the one call in which I was able to get through to tech help they verified that the wireless systems loose too much resolution when more than one camera is used on the four camera receiver. I then ordered another camera and receiver to get half of the system functional. Then the battle started to get the missing camera refunded. Lorex eventually informed me that refunds would have to come from Amazon. Today, approximately 10 weeks after the Amazon return policy expired, Lorex shipped me the replacement camera, which is next to useless in my system and can't be returned. Lorex products are junk, their tech help is useless as well as their return policy. Find another company from which to buy your surveillance equipment.

I went through 2 of these cameras. The first had poor night vision and was very grainy compared to another Lorex wireless camera Model LW2100. The second had very poor reception and night vision again compared to the 2100. I would not purchase another regardless of the price.

This camera arrived as scheduled it works great with the 3 other cameras of my system.Will be back for more products.The price was also great usaully $150.00 and up. AWESOME !

I ORDERED Lorex LW2201 SYSTEM ABOUT A FEW MONTHS AGO AND IT WORKS.
FOR WE NEED ADDITIONAL CAMERA SO I ORDERED LOREX LW2201AC1.
AFTER FINISHED THE INSTALLATION,I SELECT CH2 AND PRESS YELLOW BOTTOM FOR 30 SECONDS,IT ALWAYS SHOW CONNECTING ON THE MONITOR ALL THE TIME.
AFTER I REPLACED THE ORIGINAL FIRST WORKING CAMERA WITH THIS ONE AND FOUND IT'S NOT WORK!
I WILL RETURN THIS CAMERA TO AMAZON SOON.

Just bought this camera and had to contact Lorex to return it. It randomly overheats and stops communicating with the receiver.

Hopefully the replacement is better.....we'll see.

Thankfully, Lorex has a decent warantee on the product. Don't forget toi register yours!

LASTED A WHILE AND THEN DIDNT WORK AGAIN
UNLESS YOU UNPLUG IT AND PLUG IT IN.,
