The Lorex SG6331 2.4 GHz Wireless B/W 4-channel Monitor and Camera System is a complete and incredibly simple solution for remotely monitoring a small area. Constructed as a wireless system, the monitor can receive a signal from up to 300 feet away (with a clear line of site), allowing the easy-to-install camera to be placed almost anywhere. The camera includes six IR (infrared) LEDs (light emitting diodes) for nighttime surveillance, allowing this system to provide you with a black-and-white image with resolution in a very convenient package. The Lorex SG6331 monitor includes RCA A/V (audio/video) outputs for recording, making it the perfect solution for when you want to avoid a professional-level installation and require a complete video surveillance unit for monitoring a room, entrance, or other areas in your home or business.

The Lorex SG6331's black-and-white monitor allows you to view an image with a resolution of up to 280 TVL (TV Lines) at center on its 5.5-inch picture-tube screen. Utilizing a black-and-white CMOS (complimentary metal-oxide semiconductor) image sensor, the camera includes a 3.6mm fixed lens and delivers a decent resolution of 240 horizontal TVL. This camera can receive a usable picture even in no-light (0 Lux) conditions up to 10-feet away with its IR emitters. To make this system even more portable, the camera can run on four AA batteries for up to 4-5 hours, while the monitor can run on 10 C batteries (not included) for two-to-three hours. This camera features a built-in electronic condenser microphone for listen-in audio, and an electronic auto-iris with shutter speeds ranging from 1/60 to 1/6,000 of a second. About Surveillance Camera Technical Features
Lux rating is the measurement used to indicate how sensitive a camera is to light, and stands for the level of light reflected off a piece of paper by a candle from one meter away. Thus a sensitivity of three Lux would mean a camera could generate an acceptable picture of a piece-of-paper-sized object that was illuminated by the equivalent of three candles from one meter away. The lower the Lux level, the better the camera's ability to work in low-light conditions. The camera's resolution should be greater than or equal to the resolution supported by the system's recorder or monitor. The S/N, or signal to noise ratio, is an important measure of a camera's quality. A poor camera, low-light conditions or poor wiring causes "noise" which consumes processing power and disk space. A camera with a wide dynamic range is ideal, especially for recording areas in which both indoor and outdoor light are present. CCD (charge-coupled device) sensors provide high-quality images that are less susceptible to noise. CMOS (complimentary metal-oxide semiconductor) sensors offer less image quality, but are usually more cost-effective and energy efficient.

I first bought whatever they had at toysrus for $149.99 with 900mHz. The reception was terrible, whether from interference from other electronics or what I have no idea.
I bought this one to try, and it's great. The picture is clear.My daughter is 13 months, and I wish I'd bought it 12 months ago. the only negatives are that the camera is top heavy and really needs to be screwed in - we manage by packing stuffed animals around it on a shelf. The "night vision" is not much - at night with lights out I can't see much, though to be truthful I never read the directions, so maybe I am missing something. Also the sound monitoring isn't as good as our fisher price sound monitor, so often we'll leave the sound monitor on, and just turn the video on intermittently to see what she is up to.

I bought this to replace my second Summer monitor, both of which lasted only 1 year. This one had lots of interference - and the interference was very loud crackles! I couldn't leave it on at night without the frequent crackles keeping my wife and I awake. Even though it runs at 2.4 ghz, my 5.8 ghz portable phone caused huge video and audio interference - it was unviewable while using the phone. Night vision was also poor - much poorer than the Summer. (Note: you can put two cameras next to each other, and the IR's from each are additive - you get a much brighter night vision picture.) The four-channel auto-view setting (where the monitor automatically scrolls between channels) is only usable if you have four camereas; otherwise, you get this really loud static when it scrolls to channels that don't have a camerea.
Overall, very unimpressive. Would love to find one as good as Summer, but with more longevity (see other reviews of the Summer video monitor regarding it's longevity issues).

Two fundamental facts I've come to learn about video monitors:
1. Interference is very much house-dependent. There's no way to predict which system will work in your house and which one will be just a sea of static. It's like a box of chocolates - you just have to take one and try it.
2. None of these monitors are made very well - based on the reviews (and my confirmatory experience), most of them seem to break in a year or so. So be gentle to them, and turn them off (or at least turn off the video screen) when you don't need it, and just plan on their life being about 1 year. If you get longer, then you're doing real well. And if your merchant offers you a replacement protection plan, for heaven's sake buy it!
