In my experience, some 36 years in the industry, these people are simply in business for the money.

The support web site makes an extreme amount of effort to sell, sell, sell. Your first hint of warning!

Support for the Lorex products as a whole is very poor, if not completely nonexistent. Do not use email support - phone contact only!!

Note: Lorex as a whole is still buried deep in the 8 bit Windows hardware world.

In addition, the product hardware is very poor in comparison to many other cameras on the market in every respect.

Setup is very unnecessarily complex due to the very incredibly poor software interface.

Average everyday, Macintosh owners/users beware - this product is really only useful for Windows suffers only! The iPhone apps - are a terrible joke! Not compatible with AirPort equipments! Note: There is a reason they show an AirPort Express cabled to the camera on their web site - then connected to the AirPort Extreme. Take note!

If you're not reasonably experienced in advanced networking skills - this product is not for you. The package is not WPA2 WiFI compatible contrary to what is advertised. Very compromised security! Just for starters - for example: No spaces allowed in the SSID and certainly no hidden SSID's allowed.

Hopefully, Lorex will soon make a very serious effort to join the modern world.

Highly recommend avoiding this product and all related Lorex products for some time to come. Simply not ready for prime time!

Product return requested!

Amazon Vine™ Review (What's this?)
My husband and I own both Macs and PCs, and like another reviewer mentions, this works better through PC installation. Otherwise, the process is just too tedious. We love the camera and the fact that it is wireless. The price is rather steep and if this had not been offered through Vine, I would not have purchased it. The features that we both liked were the patrol and alarm settings, the illuminator which is built-in and works beautifully, the fact that we can monitor through our iPhones, and availability of multiple modes of recording. The downside is the software which we did not find particularly user-friendly - I'm not as knowledgeable on these matters as my husband but not a total incompetent either, yet my initial efforts at installing this were frustrating. I then turned to my husband, who after a substantial amount of time, finally managed to install this. Final verdict - too expensive for what is being offered.

Amazon Vine™ Review (What's this?)
This granny couldn't. Perhaps yours is more tech savvy.

The product description for the Lorex Wireless Easy Connect Pan/Tilt Network IP Remote Surveillance Camera reads: "Lorex's new Pan Tilt Wireless Easy Connect Network Camera allows users to remotely monitor their business or home through a secure, password protected connection that requires no networking knowledge." I must take issue with the 'easy' in the name of the product and the 'no networking knowledge.'

Once I found and paid someone who does this kind of thing for a living, I discovered that the camera system itself is quite good. The images are clear and illumination a welcome bonus. But there is no way I could have installed it myself.

However, even my professional installer found the Lorex directions to be useless.

So if you're looking for an easy-to-install system, look elsewhere. But if you're willing to pay for help installing a rather pricey system, then you might want to give it a go. And keep in mind that it's wireless - you need a router.

Note to Lorex: You have a fine product with shoddy installation instructions, and you need to be clearer about system/set up requirements. That should be an easy enough problem for a good tech writer to solve.

Easy to setup, works with wifi, a bit expensive
This surveillance/security camera is pretty easy to setup and it works wirelessly so you don't have to run ethernet to its location, which is a very nice benefit. Read more
