5.0 out of 5 stars A sultry retelling of Moby Dick
Granted, I am an Azpiri fan and I would suggest that you know Lorna's character before reading this epic but it is not necessary to appreciate this tale. Lorna is a space-age privateer/bounty hunter who uses everything in her arsenal, especially her body, to get what every rogue space adventurer needs: money. Wiling her way onto the boat of the infamous Captain Ahab,...

3.0 out of 5 stars Overly stylized & kinda boring, like the original
The drawing is very stylized, and very static: even the action scenes look like still lifes. If Heavy Metal did an animated version of this, it would work much better, since the motion would give life to the heavy draftsmanship. So, -1 star for the heavily over-stylized impressionist drawing. But at least it is all in color...

The original novel which I had to read in high school was deadly dull: at least you can't say that about this! Too bad Azpiri had to rip off one of Hawthorne's less interesting stories: think of what he could have done with the Scarlet Letter instead! So, -1 star for the lack of creativity shown by ripping off someone else's story, and making a poor choice of it at that...

5 stars on all other aspects tho', so you end up with my net rating of 3 stars. I could have given it a 4th star, except that the characters seem to be going thru the story with their eyes closed [literally]: I guess Azpiri hates drawing pupils, or maybe just loves doing eyelashes?

Lorna is a space-age privateer/bounty hunter who uses everything in her arsenal, especially her body, to get what every rogue space adventurer needs: money. Wiling her way onto the boat of the infamous Captain Ahab, she gets more than she bargained for when she is whisked away on a journey, the Captain's journey, after a sea-creature that threatens to send them all to their doom.

For more Lorna or to get more "depth" on her character purchase Lorna Mouse Club and Lorna: The Ark
