Garcia did fine work in the L. A. area over the years including motion pictures. His compositions and arrangements are certainly jazz-based
if not straight ahead jazz. He surrounded himself with some of the very top West Coast jazzers for this CD. I would rate it higher if the soloists had been featured more than they are, but all in all, this was a very good session! Garcia recordings are pretty hard to find, and sadly, there is not a lot out there!
