5.0 out of 5 stars Pure Raw Energy!
This cd recorded live in a small club setting displays the Raw energy of Henry Garza's guitar playing. I've listened to this over and over, pulling it out again when I need a boost. The covers do SRV justice and their original songs are smooth and pure. Their rock n roll /latin roots in a blues blend brings out a vunerability that takes us deeper into the magic of what...

1.0 out of 5 stars No Originality!
I bought this CD because of the great reviews and because I really like the song "Heaven" which I heard on the radio. I also own several Stevie Ray Vaughan CDs. This Los Lonely Boys CD starts with Stevie Ray Vaughan songs and about 1/2 the CD is Stevie Ray Vaughan with different lyrics. I love Stevie and saw him in concert just before he died. If I wanted to listen to...

5.0 out of 5 stars Pure Raw Energy!, January 28, 2005
This review is from: Los Lonely Boys: Live At Blue Cat Blues (Audio CD)
This cd recorded live in a small club setting displays the Raw energy of Henry Garza's guitar playing. I've listened to this over and over, pulling it out again when I need a boost. The covers do SRV justice and their original songs are smooth and pure. Their rock n roll /latin roots in a blues blend brings out a vunerability that takes us deeper into the magic of what guitar playing does to your soul. These boys can sing, all three of them, with passion. Their orchestrated bass work, lead guitar, drumbeats and powerful vocals show that they've been playing wholeheartedly, pouring themselves into these instruments like a sacred agreement was made when they first picked them up. .

In this era of overproduced tech tracks being sold everywhere. Los Lonely Boys Blue Cat Blues is a refreshing dip into their unique version of what they call "texican rock and roll".

TYhis is a great CD with great sound and songs. This was recorded when the band was hungry for popularity and it sounds like it. Great vocals-great separation and great guitar. This has a bluesy feeling to it. Recorded during two earlier concerts of the boys when they first started. I would get this 1st over all over recordings by this band- The three brothers rock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars OUTSTANDING! RAW , ORIGINAL MUST HAVE!!!!, September 26, 2004
This review is from: Los Lonely Boys: Live At Blue Cat Blues (Audio CD)
This beautifully mastered CD is a true treasure and a rare glimpse at the raw burgeoning talent of Los Lonley Boys. Fun, bluesy, sultry...great talent, how exciting that this group of recordings was captured before they hit the big time!

I got one for myself and then one for a firend of mine who is an avid fan. We both love this CD!!

Blue Cat Blues was a muscian's club in Deep Ellum~ Dallas...the heart of the Dallas music scene for several years....they only had the best of the best and this is proof!

5.0 out of 5 stars These rockin' boys can play the blues!, July 20, 2004

This review is from: Los Lonely Boys: Live At Blue Cat Blues (Audio CD)
Exemplifies the SRV influence big-time. If you wanna hear the bluesy beginnings of these boys, then this is the CD for you; it's full of Henry's amazing guitar leads that you only hear live, not to mention the tight rhythms provided by Ringo and Jojo. This is a great CD to add to your LLB collection that will once again affirm the outstanding musicianship that these boys possess. Start rockin' because these boys are gonna be BIG!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Originality--YES!, November 29, 2004

I agree with the reviews of Los Lonely Boys Live at Blue Cat Blues, except B. Tucker's No Originality. lst, LLB is in awe of SRV and are honored to be recording his music. They are not trying in any way to be SRV, because there is only one original. What they are doing is infusing their adoration of SRV along with other greats into their own music. When they recorded Live at Blue Cat Blues, they were 4 yrs. younger than they are now. Considering that they're in their mid-20's today, one can easily compute how young they were when they performed the SRV songs. As great as their music was when younger--talent has always been their middle names--they have fine-tuned and polished techniques + sounds. Plus adding new ones along the way. I would like to ask B. Tucker to listen to their self-titled hugely popular hit CD, or buy their Texican Rock and Roll DVD which has a concert on it. They also have songs on others' CD's like Willie Nelson's Outlaws and Angels concert, the Alejandro Escovedo Tribute, and the recently added Johnny Cash "I Walk the Line" on their newest DVD. Listen to their music of today and get a good sense of their own original sound, not SRV's or anyone else. Then please re-evaluate them on this forum. Thanks.

5.0 out of 5 stars These Boys Can Bring It!, July 13, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Los Lonely Boys: Live At Blue Cat Blues (Audio CD)
Although, four years old, this live recording captures the red hot power of the Boys live performances. I was fortunate enough to see them perform in Tucson, AZ earlier this year: I was blown away! What is really amazing about this cd is that, based on their current ages, the band had have been 21 and under at the time of this performance. Amazing. This recorording is much more Rock-Blues oriented than thier latest ("Los Lonely Boys") cd. The song "Heaven" sounds mostly the same, except the guiter licks are slightly different - but still great. "Dime Mi Amor" and "Senorita" sound like the studio recording. This recorording consists mostly of songs not in their more recent studio cd. It would not surprise me if some of these songs made to their next studio recording. As I said before, I am reminded of Stevie Ray Vaughn, only with Los Loney Boys lush vocal harmonies. Observation: Some media types have categorized the band's music as "latin rock." I would suggest that it's really rock with Spanish sprinkled into some of the songs. Get this CD and play it very loud!

5.0 out of 5 stars From the Fan Forum on the bands official web site, July 10, 2004
This review is from: Los Lonely Boys: Live At Blue Cat Blues (Audio CD)
I have it.. it's pretty darn good!

I like hearing "I don't want to lose your love" live..it was one of my favorites from the demo/out take disc.. has cool harmonies.

I also loved hearing Henry play scuttlebuttin' .. not too many people can pull off a worthy cover of that song.. SRV would be smiling I'm sure~

5.0 out of 5 stars Get Lonely!, October 31, 2004
By
This review is from: Los Lonely Boys: Live At Blue Cat Blues (Audio CD)
While many have come to love LLB as a result of the Enhanced CD from the fall of 2003, there's a whole lot of music that most have never heard - and this album is a prime example.

I Don't Want To Lose Your Love shows up here, and for those who don't follow LLB, this is the song that LLB did with Carlos Santana at the Latin Grammys, and which will very likely be on the next Santana album.

You get a couple of well executed SRV cuts - Pride and Joy and Scuttlebuttin', and lots of their original compositions.

And if you've not heard what a tiny bit of harp can do to a blus song, you are in for a treat with I Am The Man To Beat, which is rapidly emerging as a fan favorite on the worldwide tour.

This is the second earliest recording that most fans have - predated only by the Saxon Pub (Austin, Texas) boot.

Some of these tunes might make it to the next official album - but they won't have the same raw power as this early show. So pick this one up and see how the boys got to where they are today!

5.0 out of 5 stars Cause Los Lonely Boys said so, November 7, 2004
This review is from: Los Lonely Boys: Live At Blue Cat Blues (Audio CD)
These guys are amazing. The are influenced by SRV, so its great to here them play some Stevie. Their self-titled cd and the Live from Austin DVD are unbelievably great, so I had to find some of their other stuff. If you are new to Los Lonely Boys buy their debut CD or DVD first, and then after you fall in love with them (and you will) check this CD out.

4.0 out of 5 stars Los Lonely Boys ROCK!, July 21, 2005
This review is from: Los Lonely Boys: Live At Blue Cat Blues (Audio CD)
Awesome cd. The right mix of rock and blues. It reaches out to those who have yet to discover the talent of this young group. As for the rest of us, the "Live at Blue Cat Blues" cd is a great addition to our LLB library. See you on August 3rd (2005) at the Paso fair!

Sorry guys, but you loose one star for having a duplicate song on the cd.
