Re-Release of the original B0002JAVC6 LLB Live CD,
By
This review is from: Los Lonely Boys - Live at Blue Cat Blues (Audio CD)
If yu are interested in reading a few reviews, you will find them on the B0002JAVC6 CD also entitled Los Lonely Boys - Live at Blue Cat Blues.
Listen to what some of the people that bought this CD have to say! STL Blues Review - by Peter "Cornbread" Cohen, CBP "Hearing a live recording before the Los Lonely Boys "got big" is a treat for a fan. It ranks right up there with hearing the Beatles early pre-1964 recordings from the Cavern Club. Wow! 79 minutes of music to my ears!!! I like that every song is the opportunity to jam. My guess is the folks attending either of the above shows were instantly sucked into LLB fan base feeding on their raw energy, harmonizing vocals and musical abilities. The rest as they is history." - STLBluesometer 5 of 5 "Great Live CD! Better than the Fillmore Live CD... get this 1st over all other recording by this band." - J. R. Sategna, Amazon.com "This is a great CD with great sound and songs. This was recorded when the band was hungry for popularity and it sounds like it. Great vocals-great separation and great guitar... I would get this 1st over all over recordings by this band- the three brothers rock!" - 4 Stars "Los Lonely Boys Rock!" - Kimmy K, Amazon.com "Awesome CD. The right mix of rock and blues. It reaches out to those who have yet to discover the talent of this young group. As for the rest of us, the "Live at Blue Cat Blues" CD is a great addition to our LLB library." - 5 Stars "Pure Raw Energy!" - Lakota Harden, Amazon.com "This CD recorded live in a small club setting displays the raw energy of Henry Garza's guitar playing. Their original songs are smooth and pure. Their rock n roll /Latin roots in a blues blend brings out a venerability that takes us deeper into the magic of what guitar playing does to your soul. These boys can sing, all three of them, with passion. Their orchestrated bass work, lead guitar, drumbeats and powerful vocals show that they've been playing wholeheartedly, pouring themselves into these instruments, like a sacred agreement was made when they first picked them up. In this era of overproduced tech tracks being sold everywhere, Los Lonely Boys (live at) Blue Cat Blues is a refreshing dip into their unique version of what they call "texican rock and roll". - 5 Stars There are more under the initial collector's edition release with the same title.

Blues Revue Aug/Sep 2006 Issue 101 - Page 70
LOS LONELY BOYS Live at Blue Cat Blues Blue Cat Blues (Excerpts) - ...this raw, honest, rollicking example of the band's early days should be heard by its many fans. The arrangements aren't quite polished, the vocal harmonies so integral to the band's appeal are still being formed, and the songs (nine of them previously unreleased) are on the derivative side. But the sound, taken directly from the board, is as crisp as the best concert recordings, and the brothers' chops and interplay are evident even at this nascent stage. Their greasy blues and Latin influences are fully formed, and though the SRV comparisons are hard to shake, there's no doubt these kids have the talent to go to the next level -- as they did, in fact, on their Grammy-nominated recording that appeared four years later. The set's centerpiece, though not its most compelling track, is the 11-minute slow blues "Cotton Fields and Crossroads," which, despite being a little too reminiscent of Vaughan's cover of "Texas Flood," reveals deep-seated blues roots. Interestingly, the real star here is not Henry Garza's guitar (at this point, it's too imitative) but brother Ringo's sturdy drums, which propel the songs and keep the band from descending into blues cliches. The crackling, youthful energy of Los Lonely Boys on these early live recordings is reminiscent of old Johnny Winter: barely contained and ready for prime time." full review originally written by: HAL HOROWITZ - BLUES REVUE AUG/SEP 2006

Love this live album!,

This review is from: Live At Blue Cat Blues - Dallas Texas (MP3 Download)
I saw a documentary on Los Lonely Boys on PBS a couple of weeks ago, and went straight to my local record store, Backdoor Records in Cotati, CA in search of more of their music. They first sold me "Forgiven," and I put it right into my car changer in the parking lot. Skipped through the tunes, and took it right back into the store. This was not the music I heard in the documentary! It was all smooth and engineered to oatmeal. So I traded it in for "Live at ....," put IT in the changer, and...Ahhhhhhh! Raw, hard-rockin blues that gives you the feeling you are at a band rehearsal. Even the occasional feedback and engineering mistakes (not enough guitar on "Heaven") were not enough to put me off...and I found the asides and mistakes by the band (...love you long/short and sweet...on "Man to Beat") endearing. I am just happy there is a young, healthy band making great music right now! I hope they stay safe and I look forward to watching them continue to grow in their music. Please, Boys, try to stay out of aircraft as much as possible!

This cd was released on the heels of LLB's first national self titled Los Lonely Boys. I bought this when it was first released. It was recorded four years before they became house hold names. This was recorded on Nov. 30th, 2000 and they were the opening act for Andy Timmons. It is hard to hear the crowd reaction, but apparently LLB tore the house down.
I compare it to SRV Live, In The Beginning. The version of this that I have has 16 songs in total. The first 3 were recorded for the annual SRV Birthday Jam on Oct.5th, 2000 and they are, Scuttle Buttin', Friday Night and I don't Want To Lose Your Love. All excellent. This was the first time they played in Dallas. They blew the house away and were asked to come back on Nov. 30, 2000. The version listed here has a 12 song set list, the cd I own also has a screamin' version of Pride and Joy by SRV. Not sure why it is left off this particular version, not sure why the first 3 songs are not included either???? It is easy to see and hear why these brothers have made it. Diamonds in the rough, hungry to prove themselves and playing with soul. A real treat. TURN IT UP!!!!

The CD is very good. The problem I had is that I ordered a New CD from Amazon (Not an outside source) and they sent me a used one. It wasn't wrapped in plastic and the CD itself had marks on it. The case was also broken. The CD plays ok, but I was disappointed with their quality control.

I was extremely disappointed with this CD. It was not the high quality performance that I have enjoyed with other Los Lonely Boys' recordings. In addition, the cuts weren't anything new or different - it was basically the same stuff - just with a different title.
