This retold, non-violent version of The Three Pigs takes place in the Southwest. Miguel, the cleverest of the pigs, sees through the wolf's artificially sugared tricks, and ultimately destroys the wolf's power to deceive others.

This review is from: Los tres cerdos / The Three Pigs: Nacho, Tito y Miguel (Hardcover)
'Los Tres Cerdos' is an absolutely brilliant bilingual book. Bobbi Salinas has created an excellent socio/political version of the classic 'Three Little Pigs'. It is full of good humor, exquisite southwestern illustrations, and intelligently presented morality lessons. Side-by-side translated English/Spanish text is an excellent learning tool for children of all ages. The detailed images, full of local venacular in both languages, are a fine read in their own right. I love it as a former Hawaii, New York City and currently Albuquerque resident/artist. I believe you will too.I bought this book in 1998 for the original $17.95. I just paid $24.99 and am very happy to have replaced the first copy I gave as a gift to a child. NOTE: It is such ashame thatthis book is out-of-print and some vendors are asking outrageous prices (up to $398.). Please someone reprint, so more people can enjoy this great book!

Awesome connection to language!,
This review is from: Los tres cerdos / The Three Pigs: Nacho, Tito y Miguel (Hardcover)
What a fantastic wonderful bilingual book! The book, The Three Pigs: Nacho, Tito and Miguel, connects the spanish culture and the English language so well; its such a wonderful side by side translated English/Spanish text. The book also has a Spanish/English glossary in the back and it great for a child to learn a new language! Each pig has their own uniqueness and talents. The illustrations are awesome and really attracted me as a reader... I have to admit I do judge a book by the illustrations and this book won me over!
