Pete Thomas became the at-home winner of the second season of NBC’s reality TV show The Biggest Loser. A licensed personal trainer, he speaks regularly on motivational and weight-loss topics. He lives in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and teaches weight-loss classes in the Ann Arbor area.

I thought this book was going to be like all the others I have purchased but it was nothing like them. I expected an "Eat your vegetables and lift some weights" and you can look like me book. That is all these books come down to, but not this one. Pete Thomas tells it straight with a punch in the face. The book is full of funny stories about him on the ranch and some sad stories about his unbelievably rough life gowning up. Pete Thomas breaks down how he got 400 pounds and the full journey it took (on the three levels it took) for him to get fit and healthy. Pete Thomas also lays out a path that anyone at any weight can follow to build the same healthy lifestyle he is maintaining. Pete Thomas points out that weight loss, real weight loss not the yo-yo thing most of us do, takes commitment to the process and journey of changing your life habits and not just a temporary fad. This book really challenges you to think and then respond to why you are not healthy and why you are choosing to stay that way. Yes, Pete Thomas tells you how he eats and works out to get and maintain his healthy lifestyle but he also tells you how you can adopt his principles into your life to have a similar lifestyle. If you are tired of not being healthy and are willing to go through the process of learning why you are not choosing to be healthy then this book is for you. Buy it today; get the express overnight and start reading and APPLYING this book to your life. Even if you never apply the knowledge of Pete Thomas to your life you will still learn more about weight loss and have a fun read, (I love the story about Jillian Michaels on day one of the ranch), then any of the millions of "Eat your vegetables and go for a walk" books out there.

As a Registered Dietitian, I found "Lose it Fast, Lose it Forever" to be an inspiring and credible book uniquely set apart from the many fad diets and gimmicks marketed today. All of Pete Thomas' nutrition and fitness recommendations are safe, scientifically based, and effective for both weight loss and maintenance.

Pete's methods are based on reasonable dietary practices that really can be maintained for a lifetime. This book provides readers the details they need to create a healthy plan they can follow for the rest of their lives to lose weight, increase their fitness, and achieve the healthy lifestyle they desire.

"Lose it Fast, Lose it Forever" is unique among diet books because the author's primary focus is on teaching readers how to develop a fitness focused lifestyle to maintain a healthy weight once they have lost the pounds they need to shed.

He believes that anyone who makes the mental commitment necessary to lose weight can achieve and maintain a healthy weight, whether they need to lose a hundred or more pounds or are looking to shed that pesky last ten. The book teaches
how to assess their own dietary habits, how to determine how many calories they need in a day to maintain or lose weight, and how to develop a meal plan that will meet their specific needs.

Pete believes there is no one "right" diet. What people need to know to be successful is how to plan a diet that works for them personally, and he explains in great detail how to set up a diet plan that is customized including how much to eat, when to eat, and what to eat. Following the principles laid out in this book has changed my life in so many ways. Just two years ago when I was 44 years old I took Pete's program offered at one of the local schools nearby. I was 192 pounds and never did any form of physical activity, and by that I mean never played a sport in my life. I started out literally trying to stay on the treadmill for 15 minutes and quickly called my friend who was also in the class and we both were in agreement we were going to die trying to get healthy. The good news is if you follow this plan it will totally work and you will see progression. I now weigh 133 pounds and run about 40 miles a week because I love it. Remember I told you I never did anything athletic in my life , you too can begin a fitness program that works for you and stay with it. One day at a time you will see yourself becoming stronger, healthier and happier. Don't wait to get started, shed the extra weight and start living. Get this book and finally get a sensible plan that you can do the rest of your life. Sensible, valuable advice from someone who knows how to lose weight and the tools to keep it off. Start today you will be so glad you did. Good luck

Pete Thomas, the author is plain WONDERFUL! I attended one of his 6 week weight loss seminars & it has inspired me . . . big-time!!! I not only lost weight, but I've kept if off. Pete knows what he is talking about and is very caring in helping others.

This is the best weight loss book ever written. It takes you to the core of what make us fat and then gives you everything you need to beat everything that makes you fat. I love Pete's fast moving personal stories and how they relate to your own personal success.
I recommend this book to everyone. Fat and skinny people alike.

In November 2005, Pete Thomas walked away from the finale of NBC's The Biggest Loser a winner - and a loser. He won $100,000 for losing the most weight of all the contestants that season. What he lost was 185 pounds in only nine short months - most of which he lost at home after being "voted off" by the other contestants.
At his largest, Thomas tipped the scales at over 416lbs. As a child, Pete never learned about nutrition and exercise due to his transient lifestyle - a result of his mother's serious mental illness. As a young child, he was left alone or with his younger sister-- forced to find food wherever he could. Both Pete and his sister were put into foster care.
