On A Night Like This
The sparks between Aiden and Sara have been smoldering since they were teenagers. Sara is afraid to take another chance on a man who broke her heart, and Aiden knows better than anyone how dangerous an intense fire can be. Check out this, the twelfth the Callaways series and all of Barbara Freethy's work

Book Description

"I want to know you, to understand anything at all about you, because you are the most maddening lady I have ever encountered."

He's the perfect gentleman...
After years hidden away from the mockery of the Ton, proud Andrew Clifton, Lord Amberstall, is finally ready to face Society again. But when his horse is injured on the road to London, Andrew finds himself literally thrown at the feet of the beautiful, infuriating, and undeniably eccentric Katie Moore.

...she's anything but a lady.
Katie always preferred the stables to society, so when she was badly injured in a riding accident, she was more than happy to retreat to the countryside and give up the marriage mart for good. She never expected an infuriatingly proper lord to come tumbling into her life-and she certainly never expected to find herself wondering what it would be like to rejoin the world at his side. They couldn't be more different, and soon Andrew and Katie find themselves at odds about everything but the growing passion between them...and a keen awareness of a threat that may end their unconventional romance before it has even begun.

4.0 out of 5 stars VERY ENTERTAINING! July 10, 2014
Format:Mass Market Paperback
HOW TO LOSE A LORD IN 10 DAYS OR LESS by Elizabeth Michaels is a witty Regency Historical Romance. #3 in the "Tricks of the Ton" series, buy can be read as a stand alone. See,"Desperately Seeking Suzanna" and "Must Love Dukes".

This is Andrew Clifton, Lord Amberstall, who has been hidden away for a year in Scotland, due to being made a mockery in front of the ton. And the eccentric, lonely Lady Katherine Moore's (Katie) story.

Witty, and fun but intriguing and suspenseful! Ms. Michaels has written a tale that is captivating, entertaining, passionate and compelling all at once. How can that be, you ask, well first of all Katie is a lonely, eccentric and witty, who loves horses, has had an accident that left her with a limp or did it? And Andrew (Andy) left England due to being made a mockery by none other than, his friends, over a horse race, who is lonely, handsome as the devil and is needed at home. Oh, did I mention, someone is threatening his family's estate, and his valuable horses? And trying to get rid of him along the way.

Fast paced and filled with secrets, danger, witty banter between the hero and heroine, passionate kisses, and a unconventional romance. Oh yes, sparks fly. A lively romp through Regency England's countryside with a bit of danger, sensual tension that leads to so much more than a quick romp in the hayloft. Another masterpiece for Ms. Michaels. "The Tricks of the Ton" is a lively series to say the least. A great entertaining read with a bit of danger and lots of romance. Received for an honest review from the publisher.

2.0 out of 5 stars Fell flat. July 18, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
HOW TO LOSE A LORD IN 10 DAYS OR LESS is the first book by Elizabeth Michels that I read. This book is the third of the series but can read as a standalone. I initially picked up this book because I had read a couple of books with the same title (or very, very similar) last month and I loved it! I thought that this book would be the same. The story focuses on a stuffy aristocrat, Andrew Clifton, Lord Amberstall and country girl recluse, Katie Moore. Both have been a little estranged in society and found each other, quite by accident on a country road when Andrew fell off his horse. Once the two meet, sparks fly and they fall in love.

HOW TO LOSE had a lot of promise. I love the stuffy-stickler-for-propriety aristocrat and an eccentric girl trope, unfortunately, I had a hard time finishing this book. I honestly did not like both Katie and Andrew at all! I felt that Katie was too much for Andrew. Andrew, on the other hand, was too much of a stickler that I didn’t warm up to him at all. And although sparks were flying between the two, I wasn’t into their paring. It would have been a different story if there were more tender moments between them. Unfortunately, this was not the case.

The plot was ok, nothing really special, and a little bit unbelievable at certain parts. I think it was when I found out why Andrew left society, that I find unbelievable. Certainly it was a reason to be absent from society but it felt a little too weak, too cowardly.

HOW TO LOSE is an okay lighthearted read. And although the book was a hard read for me, I am still glad that Andrew and Katie got their HEA.

4.5 Stars
~Reviewed by FRANCESCA & posted at Under the Covers Book Blog

Light hearted and entertaining from beginning to end. This is the story of Lord Amberstall, whom I wasn’t a big fan of in the previous book. If you remember him from pursuing Lilly and the disaster at the horse exhibition, I wasn’t too thrilled with the fact he was getting his HEA. But trusting the author completely I went in without any reservations.

And what a fun book this was! Andy is so sweet underneath that exterior. And caring. I love that side of him just as much as I loved the teasing one. He left for Scotland after the embarrassment with the Mad Duke and is now forced to go back home after his mother tells him of trouble with his neighbor back home. Except the trouble might be a bit more serious than he thought when he finds himself being chased by shady characters while coming back home. And he ends up crashing with his horse right onto Katie Moore’s property.

And as much as I loved Andrew, I completely loved Katie. And earl daughter who wears breeches, walks with a stick, and lives alone in a cottage on the edge of her father’s property. She doesn’t know much about propriety or the rules of the ton. She does what feels right and says what comes to mind. And is used to things going her way. She even offers her help to the annoying Lord Amberstall and helps him heal his horse so he can safely travel back home.

Their romance develops first as two strangers helping each other, who quickly become friends. They are so compatible that it was just bound to happen. Katie with her free ways is exactly what Andrew wants deep down but has been tied down with responsibilities his whole life that he couldn’t see that.
