Book Description

Learn How To Use The Power Of Your Mind To Achieve Real, Natural Weight Loss

Diets Don't Work, But Changing Your Habits DOES. This Book Will Show You How

The weight loss and diet industry pulls in more than 40 billion dollars annually in the United States alone. Despite this massive amount of money people just seem to keep packing on the pounds. Why is this? The truth of the matter is that the diet industry is largely a fraudulent empire based on false assumptions that it largely perpetuates. Which of the following statements do you believe?

My problem is that I need to lose 20 pounds

There is no substitute for will power if you want to lose weight

All successful programs for healthy and natural weight loss require a special eating plan made up of low calorie meals

Three pounds a week is about the minimum amount of weight that you should expect to lose on a healthy diet plan

The fact of the matter is that it would take me about 50 push-ups, 100 deep knee bends and 200 sit ups combined with running around the block to burn off the calories from one piece of pie. This is why exercise is not an important way to lose weight

When trying to lose weight it is a good idea to weigh yourself everyday. This way you'll know if you're making progress and you can reinforce your success

If you are trying to lose weight sticking strictly to a diet plan is crucial. If you deviate at all you are condemning yourself to failure. You can't cheat!

The diet industry pushes all of these ideas and more in one form or another and yet none of them are true. If you believe any of them you are playing by their rules and the game is rigged. It's like you're trying to reach Hawaii but the diet industry has given you a map to the North Pole. There's only one way to win this game and that's to not play it at all

1.0 out of 5 stars I laughed out loud May 24, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I love to read health books, and I grant that they often contain similar information presented in a new way. This book comes off as if written by a thirteen year old who has just discovered well known information, and assumes no one else knows about it yet. I actually laughed out loud when the author made the analogy about seeing a friend who yells at you and then asks you to move furniture. It was too ridiculous. None of the information has anything backing it up, so it ends up coming off like someone's random thoughts. I also expect an author who is writing a book about losing weight, to know how to spell the word losing, especially if it's the second version of the book, as we're constantly reminded. I would also expect any author to know the appropriate use for commas and the difference between using who and whom. The overuse of exclamation points is also quite annoying! (heehe) I felt that really made the tone of the book seem juvenile! Well, that and the horrid grammar and spelling, and the obvious lack of editing. It's also obnoxious that the author seems to be constantly high fiving himself throughout the book for being smart enough to figure all this out. There might be some helpful hints there if you are a preteen or someone who has never picked up a weight loss article, but the way it's written makes it easy to get lost in the ridiculous wording and silly analogies.

5.0 out of 5 stars Helpful Book January 16, 2013
This book has helped me a lot during my journey to lose weight. In order to lose weight you really need to focus on both exercises and eating habits. They go hand in hand and in most cases you won't be able to reach your goals with just one aspect (from my experience). I have read quite a few books that deal with different aspects of weight loss and found this one helpful. For people to expect this book to cover everything that has to do with weight loss is a bit unrealistic. You can "look inside" the book (click the image) and look at the table of contents, it's quite obvious what the book covers. Take this into account before you complain that this isn't what you were looking for.

I am slowly progressing towards meeting my goals, so far over the last 6 months I have lost 23 pounds as of my last weigh in. On top of watching what I eat, including always eating breakfast I also take Raspberry Ketones to help with weight loss and for appetite suppressant. It seems to really help. I have also found the workouts provided to be helpful, I have incorporated some of them into my gym sessions but another thing to think about is taking protein at breakfast. I read it was very helpful for weight loss to drink a protein shake of around 20-30g of protein as your breakfast. I am currently trying it for a month to see how it goes.

5.0 out of 5 stars My first good read of the year. January 3, 2011

This book is easy to read, and very quick. It's simple, goes straight to the point, and is just plain common sense. Eat to live rather than live to eat. We already knew that, but nowadays hardly anyone follows that simple rule.
The second half of the book describes a bunch of very easy and efficient exercises (with photos) you can include in your daily life.
That's it, no fluff, no false promises, just plain common sense!

(The pictures come out just fine on a Kindle.)

More About the Author

My name is David Nordmark and my primary interests are related to health and fitness, with a side order or politics and economics (not to mention film).

I'm probably best known for my fitness ideas. My general health and fitness philosophy is that if you want to be as strong and healthy as you can be, you only need to watch what the animals do in nature and follow their example. Any animal that you can think of is far stronger and healthier than any human being. How do they get this way? By constantly exercising with their own bodyweight. I've created an entire website dedicated to this idea which can be viewed at

I'm also interested in politics and economics. The first book I've written in this vein is "Understanding American Exceptionalism: What it is, how it came to be, and why it's fading". It's been well reviewed, for the few who've read it, lol.

I was born and raised in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada (I am a Canadian), which is where I currently live.
