I'm not much of a rap fan, nor am I an Eminem fan for that matter, but there's something about this song that you just can't make out. Taken from the Eminem's debut hit movie, which in its own way speaks of what life Eminem, aka Marshall Mathers, might have gone through. The movie was great! Eminem's acting abilities were top notch especially the serious cold outlook of his eyes in some scenes. He portrayed a person with a vision, a dream to be something more than he is.

The song is featured three times in the movie in different parts. The first is when Eminem's character is on a bus and he's heading back home. This is the smooth piano part. Very soothing and works well when mixed with the hard bass and guitars. The second part includes the heavy bass and beginning rhythm and some of the lyrics. Put those two together and the full song is played in the final credits of the movie.

The song's lyrics sums up the movie in just under minutes of music. It literally does that. Not only does it do that, it also plays testimony to Eminem's current and past life and not just the character's. The music is just over the top. This one is different, because you don't have just a beat, but also the work of bass, synth, guitars and that haunting piano all mixed into the fray. This helps make this Eminem's single, something not to be forgotten.

All in all, I truly recommend it. The song works in inspiring as well as lifting morale up when things just don't seem to be going your way. Just the first few verses of the song, would make you strive to be in a place better than you are now. And gives you a sense of achievement that makes your adrenaline pumping.

The first couple of times you listen to Lose Yourself, enjoy it for what it is. Great rapping by Eminem, a solid beat, the sort of song that gets stuck in your head.

Then, see the movie 8 Mile on DVD, and listen to the song's lyrics to see how much of the movie is told in it.

Good song, but if you really want to hear it, buy the DVD and listen to it in the context of the film. This is where it is supposed to be, and fits best.

I personally love "Lose Yourself", but didn't want to but the whole 8 Mile soundtrack for that one song. So, the single is the way to go. It has the main version along with an instrumental that is dope and a couple of other songs. I definately reccomend this CD, and any other thing having to do with the great and powerful Slim Shady.

YOU ONLY GET ONE SHOT. This is the secret of life. When you listen to this masterpiece, you hear the message of a young genius, born into poverty, who kept that secret in his mind and did not let anyone stop his methodical march to the top of the pop charts. I listen to this song, and it gives me the chills, because it tells the story of his life, and tells me to keep my focus, and keep on my march while the world is telling me "it can't be done." This song transcends the boundaries of pop, rap, poetry and words -- it is a slap in the back of the head that tells you to STOP WHINING AND FACE REALITY, while keeping the secret of life front and center in your mind. I defy you to not try harder to succeed after listening to this song. PARENTS: Forget the parental warnings! This is a "MUST LISTEN" for your kids!

I dig the song. It didn't change my world, but it captures the passion of experience, and the off-kilter rhythm in the chorus is pretty darn cool.

I do have to wonder about any reviewer who would call this "absolutely fantastic, great beat, fantastic lyrics and good flow," and then subtract stars due to its being overplayed. Why yes, Clear Channel *is* a blight upon humanity. Welcome to the 21st century. Why doesn't he take out his frustration upon the corporate entities who deserve it, rather than upon the artist and "poser fans" who are (needless to say) less hardcore than him? I don't know, but 5 out of 5 reviewers found his comments helpful, and Eminem may get a few more good "Stan"-like songs out of the situation.

Not to say that Eminem isn't something a corporate entity in and of himself, whose employers push his music without restraint or apology. That's a given. If you want to rail against the system that floods our airwaves with redundancy, I'll be right there with you. But don't call something a "beautiful song" and then tell me how it was "ruined" by people who are neither the artist or you. As far as I'm concerned, that's a basic misreading of the artist-fan relationship. Like the song or don't like the song. Who else does or doesn't like the song, and how often the song is played, really shouldn't matter. Right?

It took me a while to accept Eminem as a worthwhile rap singer. First of all I'm no rap fan. Secondly, I suspected Eminem was just image and no substance. But this single is a land mark! First of all it's a break from his usual parody songs and at least he's not lashing at his mama in this case. I think he made his point in the latter and need not continue doing so. On the contrary, I found the lyrics to be positive ... about grasping once in a lifetime opportunities. In his case it was his music, but it still applies to anyone else with different priorities. Apart from that, this song is possibly one of the best rap songs ever. More songs from Eminem such as Lose Yourself could make this artist a songwriting totem such as Bob Dylan and U2.

This song was absolutely fantastic, great beat, fantastic lyrics and good flow. What went wrong? Well, it has been played at least half a million times on the radio and I'm sick of hearing it quite frankly! Beautiful song, ruined by the media and poser fans.

If you are a hardcare fan of Eminem like I am then you should definitely get this one!! I think this is his best single yet!!!!

Excellent! More than I hoped for. Single contained both the vocals and the instrumental version. AND I RECEIVED IT ONE WEEK! Great!
