Yes, I know that is bad grammar! This album is everything I hoped it would be and more. Every cut is a keeper, from the melancholy strains of "Chinook" to the robust sarcasm of "Long Gone to Saskatchewan." I'd list all my favorite cuts on the CD, but you can find them on the play list! Best part of all, there is an insert with all the lyrics so if just for once, you can't quite catch a word you can read along (if you are a word listener and not just a bass guitar/fiddle listener). Only sad thing about getting this album is wondering how long until the next.

As good as it gets. At long last the US is finding out what Canada and a big part of the world has known for years. Don't try to put a label on his music. You can't. To me this is his best work but I have to say everything he does as a singer-songwriter is excellent. His band is also kick butt. OK, I'd say it's some kind of country that you'll be glad you have in your player and leave it.

Tired of pop in your country? Try Corb Lund!,

Listening to Corb Lund's songs, you can tell that he's been there and done that. A great mix of story telling, creative lyrics and plain good music. Like his other albums, this one is full of songs that anyone who's lived in the country or would like to will enjoy.

Corb Lund writes some of the most interesting, entertaining, and intelligent lyrics I think I've ever heard... content-wise he's VERY different from Dylan, but in my opinion is of that caliber of talent. Just amazing. Setting the lyrics aside you have the outstanding talent of this entire band. I've heard them live twice (would love to see them more, but currently they tour mainly in Canada) and I've always left the venue feeling shell shocked in awe... here's a band that is phenomenal on CD but, I think, even better live. Now, my music taste is a bit varied - everything from Motley Crew, Black Sabbath, Patsy Cline, Gillian Welch, SteelDrivers, and on... so I guess you could say my music taste is somewhat eclectic, but I rarely find an album of any genre where I like every single song - with this band, I do... EVERY. SINGLE. SONG. I bought "Horse Soldier! Horse Soldier!" a year ago and anxiously pre-ordered this one (it didn't disappoint - and there were some HIGH expectations)... I highly recommend Corb Lund... get ready for some rockin'-country-blues-twang-Americana(or in this case Canadana)-all around GREAT MUSIC. Right now, I'm going to buy some of his older stuff...

Corb is magically tip-toeing on the hallowed ground of genuine, modern cowboy music that was once OWNED by Ian Tyson. Everytime I run across a true hand, someone who has done the work & lived the life, I ask them have the heard of Corb Lund. More & more the answer is "yes".
This latest release from CL has the witty, gritty humor and political commentary that we have come to love and expect. The phrasing and arrangement of each song keeps you on your toes. The opening track, Horse Doctor, is all too true with rural folks gladly consuming the pain killers and relaxers designed for large animals. Corb's "seen it, been there" approach to his craft is a welcome gift that seperates him from his contemporaries. I could go on & on, but your time would be better spent buying this album & altering your thinking with some listening.

We like Corb Lund, but there's nothing too new about this cd. I thought Highland Steer was way better This cd sounded much the same, but the songs don't make any sense. We loved the last cd he put out - horse soldier, horse solider as well. It's a good solid cd, but don't expect to be blown away with new material.
