Book Description

March 6, 2005
Hope Evans has a life that most women only dream about. She marries her college sweetheart, gives birth to a beautiful daughter, and has a job that she loves—but her charmed life is about to take a drastic turn.

Stranded and seeking help after her car breaks down on the highway, Hope makes a decision that triggers an unimaginable chain of events. She is unexpectedly ripped from the safe life she loves and forced to live in isolation under the watchful eyes of her “keepers.” Will she ever be allowed to return to her home and the life that she so desperately misses?

As Hope’s husband Jim frantically attempts to find her, he must overcome the devastating blow of a cowardly act of betrayal before he can regain control of his life and bring home the woman he loves. If Hope wants to survive, then she must bury the memories of her once perfect life and find the strength to stay alive, while dealing with the shocking realization that she has crossed paths with pure evil.

More About the Author

Biography
Martha Morning Todd born Marti Kurtz was raised in Southern Michigan. Marti knew from the time she was in 5th grade in grammar school that she wanted to be a writer. Marti moved with her family while in high school to Tucson Arizona. Tucson was a much different environment from Southern, Michigan, but the family soon grew to love the peace of the desert and felt right at home. After high school, Marti spent a year in Southern California. She went to college part-time and spent much of her time down by Huntington Beach, soaking in the sun and watching people.

Marti went to Las Vegas, Nevada and attended the University of Nevada where she studied accounting. Las Vegas was not the life she wanted for herself and her young daughter, Christina so they moved back to her Midwest roots to Indiana. Marti works full-time in the accounting profession and has three children.

Marti's stories have some truth to them, but they are mostly fiction. She writes about some of her experiences and her family and children are also relevant in her work. In 2003, Marti received her PhD in business and ethics from American College. She was also awarded an honorary fellow that same year. But Marti decided her passion was writing and starting writing full time in 2000.

"Losing Hope" (IUniverse released in March 2005) is her first novel. Martha also writes children's books and "Sock-a-nina" (Authorhouse released in June 2005) is based on the experiences with her two children when they were little.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a thrill ride!, June 2, 2005
This review is from: Losing Hope (Paperback)
Martha Morning Todd delivers a suspenseful, thrilling, and exciting first novel with "Losing Hope."

Hope couldn't imagine in her wildest dreams that when her car breaks down one morning on her way to work, that she would be ripped away from her loving husband Jim and daughter Addie.

As Hope's husband Jim strives desperately to find her, Hope endures a new life with a group of clandestine people who live in a settlement near her home. The head of the settlement Jean Pierre wants Hope to have his child and had been plotting the abduction since the first time he saw her out shopping.

Hope is intrigued by Jean Pierre but misses her husband and daughter terribly. Will she escape this group of people that have maliciously torn her from the life she loved or will she submit to her intrigue and stay with Jean Pierre?

This story is an original! It is like a rollercoaster, full of twists and turns! It will keep you on the edge of your seat until the last page! The characters are well-developed and quite believeable. The setting is very well-researched and descriptive. If you want excitement, this book is a perfect read!

5.0 out of 5 stars Intrigue and suspense!, June 15, 2006
This review is from: Losing Hope (Paperback)
Newcomer, Martha Morning Todd's first mystery book is a keeper! "Losing Hope" held me captive from page one, with its look into a sinister foreign underground right in our own backyard, and its exotic settings. I'm eager for the sequel. Ms. Todd is definitely an author to keep an eye on!
