Book Description

Finally there is something that really explains what is happening to so many folk in the Body of Christ. What does it mean to carry the burden of the Lord? Where is it in Scripture and in history? Why do I feel as though God is groaning within me? No, you are not crazy; God is restoring genuine intercessory prayer in the hearts of those who are open to respond to His burden and His passion.

From the Back Cover

"Fire shall be kept burning continually on the altar; it is not to go out." (Leviticus 6:13)

Two hundred years ago, this verse was burned into the hearts of a community of Moravian refugees in tiny Hernnhut in eastern Germany under Count von Zinzendorf. They committed themselves to restore this "Watch of the Lord" through 24 hours of unbroken prayer and intercession that continued for more than 100 years! God is out to restore the lost art of intercession, and He is calling His warriors to once again mount up the "Watch of the Lord."

When God's people send "up" the incense of prayer and worship, God will send "down" supernatural power, anointing, and acts of intervention. Jim Goll paints a picture of prophetic clarity and urgency in this anointed work that sounds God's clarion call to His Church: This is the season for us to mount the walls with prayer and praise-and restore the lost art of intercession!

5.0 out of 5 stars Call to the "Watch of the Lord"!!, April 27, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: The Lost Art of Intercession (Paperback)
Do you desire to come closer to God's heart as you pray? Do you hunger for His answers but somehow feel you are missing the mark? God is waiting.

The Lost Art of Intercession will show you how prayer--sent up as incense to Heaven--releases God's power down upon us. Jim Goll intimately shares how God has responded to his own prayers--angelic visits to his family; visions giving life-changing direction; and all-encompassing transportation into the Lord's Presence.

See how our prayers go beyond our own lives to "affect the destiny of individuals and nations." Share in Jim Goll's amazement as he climbs the winding steps of the ancient stone watchtower of the Moravians who--200 years ago in the village of Herrnhut, Germany--"kept" a continuous 100-year prayer vigil. "As we prayed, agonized, and groaned under the obvious influence of the Holy Spirit, a strong wind suddenly blew about the tower where we were standing, whipping away hats and scarves in its power."

You will be inspired to help restore this lost art--to keep the Watch of the Lord today-- not only for yourself, your family, but also for the world!

5.0 out of 5 stars Seeking God, March 11, 2006
By
Thomas J. Davis (Gainesville, TX United States) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This review is from: The Lost Art of Intercession (Paperback)
This book really opened my eyes to the power of prayer and our need to really seek God. He desires to do more with and through us than we realize. I was not familiar with the Movarians and their 100 year continous prayer, 24/7. Their dedication sent out missionaries all over the world. Powerful book. The greatest weapon of spiritual warfare is the brillance of God's Presence. Have you spent time in His Presence? We don't know until we spend time knowing Him. You will be glad that you read this book. I carry it with me all of the time.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Book on Prayer With A Chrismatic Slant To It, April 15, 2006
This review is from: The Lost Art of Intercession (Paperback)
Despite the fact that Jim Goll and I probably disagree over much of his charismatic theology, I found this book on intercessory prayer to be a good read. Goll uses church history particularly with the Movarians in Germany to show the power of believers coming together to pray. It is a true eye-opener to see just how far the modern Church has turned away from her secret to power and this is prayer. The book is quite easy to read and Goll does a good job of not overwhelming you in each chapter. He leads the story of the Movarians (and others) along with Scripture in each chapter to point the disciple to a deeper prayer life.

Overall, despite Goll's charismatic theology and term usage, I found this book to be a good read and a faith builder on prayer.
