I owe my rebuilt steam heating system to this book,

The book is easy to understand and allows a novice to troubleshoot and fix their own residential steam heating problems without calling-in a plumber, serviceman, or other so called expert to "crank up the pressuretrol" (worst thing you can do). This book comes highly recommended. --Ed Carr Eaton's Neck, NY

Steam Heating Made Simple,

This review is from: The Lost Art of Steam Heating (Paperback)
This book is quite amazing. Many books provide a great deal of information on a particular subject without putting it in an understandable format. This book is extremly easy to read and will give you a good understanding of how steam heat operates. On top of that, the book is written in an entertaining fashion. I am currently upgrading the steam boiler on my house and feel this book gave me the knowledge I need make decisions regarding the upgrade.

Most informative book ever,
This review is from: The lost art of steam heating
I am a civil engineer with forced air heat in my house, so I have little need to know about steam heat, but when I was in high school I worked in a plumbing store. I read this book during almost every lunch break, and before resigning for an engineering job, bought my own copy. The way it is written, I can just pick it up and read it. The format is so easy to understand that despite having no field experience, I think I could go to a steam system, and have a pretty good idea of what is wrong. I would highly reccomend this book to anyone who has even a slight interest in the power of steam heat.

A great book for the heating professional, architect, or anyone who has ever had to deal with steam heat. Great read, easy to understand, and a great addition to any personal reference library. I am an architect and have an old house with steam heat, and it has been a great help in understanding the complexities or rather simplicity of my system. It has given me the confidence to talk shop with HVAC contractors and not sound like an idiot. (They also have a lot more respect when you tell them you have this book...)I also highly recommend Dan's book for homeowners called "We Got Steam HEAT!". It is a great compliment to this book, and perhaps a better place for homeowners to start, as it is geared more toward the residential applications, and written in an easy, common sense format that just about anyone can appreciate. Check out the author's website too for great discussion forums and resources: http://www.heatinghelp.com/

Best (only) modern day book on Steam Heating,
By Ed G. (Long Beach NY) - See all my reviews

If you want to know about the technical aspect of steam heating, this is the book to read. Very few plumbers bother reading and fewer know about steam heating. The tips in the book will pay for the book many times over.
And don't bother ordering from a second-hand source here. Go to the author's site at Heatinghelp(dot)com. You can buy directly from the author who is honestly a nice guy.
