For Those Who Wonder Why Some Books of the Bible Were Banned, March 8, 2007
This review is from: The Lost Books of the Bible: The Real Apocrypha (Paperback)
This is a very good book that is so fascinating that you will not be able to put it down. Very informative and loaded with all the books that were banned from the Bible. A must have for those who want to start a library of material that is very information filled on the search for the truth.

Interesting, Inspiring, but ..., September 19, 2009
This review is from: The Lost Books of the Bible: The Real Apocrypha (Paperback)
I'm always seeking more in my quest for God and His kingdom. I had heard about the Apocrypha for years, so I decided to get a copy.
I found the reading interesting and inspiring, but I also noted some problems.
When I'm reading a reference book that is citing multiple sources, I expect to find a detailed list of those citations. This book has zero. Lost Books has many interesting examples and quotes, but they are not properly substantiated, as one would expect of a book that is claiming so much validity. I need a lot more proof with properly cited references. I could throw out quotes from some long-forgotten church patriarch, too. But, without a proper citation, I could be making the whole thing up, as well -- right? Mr. Cooke, where'd you get those facts and quotes? Off the Internet?
Another problem that I found were many typos throughout the book. When I find multiple typos in a publication, I begin to question the professionalism of the publisher. I have run across publishers that don't even know the difference between a dash and a hyphen. They're out there -- all kinds of publishers are out there. When I begin to doubt the editors and publishers of a particular book, it only makes me think that that publisher will publish anything without regard to the validity of the "facts."
So, as interesting as this book seems, and as inspiring as some of the writings may be, I need substantiated citations to help me believe the claims in this book. Because the book is so poorly cited, it only makes me doubt.
