A Definitive Work on Loving and Serving Others,
By
This review is from: The Lost Commandment: Have We Missed What Jesus Really Wants? (Paperback)
Dave Greber has written the definitive work on how we as Christians can and should love and serve others. In rediscovering Christ's commandment to 'love one another as I have loved you' the author tells us why this commandment supercedes the Golden Rule. Dave gives good practical advice and personal stories which help the user flesh out what this higher standard of love, service and forgiveness looks like in everyday life. This is an excellent primer on how to live the Christian life and experience joy, the way our saviour taught us to during His earthly ministry.

A Great Resource,
By notes of jubilee (Texas) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Lost Commandment: Have We Missed What Jesus Really Wants? (Paperback)
This book is so packed with information that it is a resource that can be used time and time again. It has the potential to transform the reader as well as the church as a whole. If we live our lives as this book suggests - To love one another as Christ loves us - more will be drawn to Christ as a result of being authentic Christians. This book should be in every church library on and on the bookshelf of every Christian.

Author's Life Sells The Book's Premise,
By
This review is from: The Lost Commandment: Have We Missed What Jesus Really Wants? (Paperback)
I purchased this book because I was biased toward the author who had shown me, a total stranger, what the essence of his subject matter looked like walking around in shoes. Dave Greber used his power of influence to rally support for my personal dilemma. His kindness was nonsensical, exorbitant and totally unwarranted, much like the usual injustices of the world. I had to read what kind of theology prompted this kind of living. I did not come to his view of the scripture with the same bias. Rather, I wondered if it was just so much ruckus over really just a matter of word choice. You say The Lost Commandment; I say The Golden Rule - you say pototo; I say potato. We agree but call it different things.
This writer did a fine job of changing my mind with one simple point. The Golden Rule demands a kindness that all are capable of, while The Lost Commandment is directly tied to a relationship making the fulfillment of it impossible without embracing Christianity. I most enjoyed the chapter on humility and was most disturbed and helped by the chapters on forgiveness and reconciliation.

Primer on Living the Christian Life Abundantly,
By CP in MD (Frederick, Maryland) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Lost Commandment: Have We Missed What Jesus Really Wants? (Paperback)
Over the years I've looked to the biblical scholars to teach me how to be a better Christian, and I do pick up tid bits from them . . . but after reading David Greber's, The Lost Commandment . . . this hits the bulls eye. Greber's book takes you on a journey into the heart of being a Christian in today's world. Jesus
gave us his last will & testament, at the last supper . . . Jesus wants us to love others, as he has loved us. Sounds simple, in the wording, as it should be. Greber's book points us toward that life altering path on how to LIVE those WORDS by our ACTIONS ! I imagine Jesus saying . . . Greber's "GOT IT RIGHT". The best part of this short book . . . Greber describes the tools we need to love others; such as constantly conversing with God in prayer, looking for ways to forgive and reconcile with others, and always be available to help those in need . . . just as Jesus did in his life. If we love like Jesus asked us to, we have an abundant, whole, and joyful life in Christ. The world can only gain in the knowledge and practice of this "Lost Commandment".

Guide for Discipleship,
By
This review is from: The Lost Commandment: Have We Missed What Jesus Really Wants? (Paperback)
Dave Greber has written a thoughtful, well-organized book that presents an important message on the characteristics of Christian love that all of us need to focus on consistently and constantly each day as we grow in our discipleship. He sprinkled in some personal experiences as examples, like Max Lucado, Mark Buchanan, and Bruce Wilkinson, yet organized his thoughts more like Phillip Keller, making this a guidebook for life, similar to Keller's classic and final work What Makes Life Worth Living.
The flow and organization were superb, as was the depth of the Biblical research, which was quite impressive. I think I liked the sections on Mission and Humility best, but there was something in it for everyone to ponder, depending on one's past and present experiences and stage of life. It was definitely uplifting!

I love this book! Dave Greber has written a book that has literally changed my life. I like that Dave thought enough to write the book in a style that appeals to the reader. Because of this, I was able to truly concentrate on the meaning and message! I learned much from this book and it has inspired me to love others as Jesus loves us! Because of what I learned in this book,I have been able to reconciled with family members that I was estranged from for over 8 years. I truly believe that every person (christian or non-christian) can benefit greatly from reading "The Lost Commandment". I know that God used Dave Greber in a mighty way to get this message out. I am grateful that Dave heard God's prompting for the need of this message and wrote the book. Please make it a priority to read "The Lost Commandment". It will change your life!

Jesus never promoted hate, so why is there so much hate in Christianity today? "The Lost Commandment: Have We Missed What Jesus Really Wants?" draws upon the verse in the book of John, that simply states that Jesus wishes for people to love one another as he has loved them. Discussing the meaning of this verse and packed with materials for study, "The Lost Commandment" is of interest to anyone looking for valuable subjects for Bible study.

Fresh! Transformational! Easy to read! Practical life application!,
This review is from: The Lost Commandment: Have We Missed What Jesus Really Wants? (Paperback)
Fresh! Transformational! Easy to read and excellent for individual and small group study! The Lost Commandment opens up the "New Commandment" Jesus gave his followers at the "Last Supper: "Love one another as I have loved you." Jesus raises the bar much higher than the standard set by the Golden Rule (most often spoken about!)... of me loving you as I want to be loved! Read and pray your way through this powerful new look at in "... how to love as Jesus' final words implore..." and you will be changed. The Lost Commandment will inspire many sermons and teaching series. Pastor Randy Neubauer - Redeemer Lutheran Church, Damascus, MD
