One of the better double disk CDs and definately overlooked,

Listen to his lyrics. Eightball not only is a rapper but an MC as well. He can weave an amazing story on a record. A lot of southern artist do not possess this ability. The beats are catchy as well for i.e "the artist pays the price" uses an old marvin gaye sample. This is a classic southern record.

Eightball has been doing his thing with MJG for years so it was only fitting that Eightball had his own solo album. The end product is one of the best double albums ever made. Eightball can give you good product by himself just check the Intro and Put Tha House On It. Eightball also tells some great stories like My Homeboy's Girlfriend where he gives an all too realistic account of a best friend's girlfriend throwing herself at him, or check out Time where he talks about how his friends changed on him when he started to become successful or check out All 4 Nuthin where he talks about all the trouble he was in when he was growing up. He also drops some gems like The Artist Pays The Price and I Dont Wanna Die and he threw some at you in the intro(if you were paying attention). As for guest appearances there are a too many to remember so I will focus on the highlights. Eighball teams up with the very strange group from Chicago(Psycho Drama) to put together the dynamic Drama In My Life(also on the Woo soundtrack). Goodie Mob joins in on Backyard Mississippi where everybody drops a gem and Busta Rhymes and Eightball shut it down on Get Money. Redman and Eightball go back and forth in a Red and Meth fashion in Coffee Shoppe, Even though Eightball's rhymes were hot Bun B stole the show on Ball And Bun. Of course MJG makes his presence felt on Stompin and Pimpin, Let's Ride and Put Your Hands Up. My First Love is Eightball's version of Common's I Used To Love H.E.R. as he expresses his love for hip hop over the sample for Sting's Wrapped Around Your Finger. The only song I didnt feel was Get Bucked which sounded out of place on this album. The second disc ends with Eightball giving a touching tribute to his mother called This Is Dedicated which also features Phoenix Johnson(who somewhat sounds like Mya). Bottom Line: Eightball's Lost is Eightball's best album ever. Eightball busts the best verses of his rap career on this album over flaming hot production by the most overlooked producer in the south: T-Mix.Lost is undeniably a highlight for 98 and it takes its place with other solid double albums like 2pac's All Eyez On Me, The Notorious Big's Life After Death, Wutang's Wutang Forever and Bone Thugs N Harmony's The Art Of War. Standout Tracks on disc 1: INTRO, PUT THA HOUSE ON IT, ALL 4 NUTHIN, BOUNCE WIT ME, DRAMA IN MY LIFE, MY HOMEBOY'S GIRLFRIEND, IF I DIE, BACKYARD MISSISSIPPI, GET MONEY, GHETTO LUV, ALL ON ME and LOST. Standout Tracks on disc 2: LET'S RIDE(also off of the I Got The Hook Up soundtrack), TIME, COFFEE SHOPPE, PURE UNCUT(the remix with Mcgruff, Canibus and DMX is sick too), DOWN AND OUT, BALL AND BUN, I DONT WANNA DIE, MY FIRST LOVE and THIS IS DEDICATED.

The Fat Mac brings us a great solo debut double disc album (a third bonus disc is included but it's nothing special other then maybe 2 or 3 songs). Definitely my favorite of his solo albums and really only 1 Eightball & MJG group album is better then this one. Packed with 26 songs, really only 2 of them I skip, 4 are ok, so you get 20 real good songs which is odd for 1 album. It has 2 classics, 3 - 7 songs that are close to being classics and the rest are good or great songs as well. Guests are on 11 songs rapping and about another 6 doing hooks but you still get a lot of 8 on here. Production is great as Mo Suave Productions do what they always do, drop some deep bass funky beats (they do 23 of the 26 songs). Slicse T does a good job on the 2 he does, and Ant Banks as always drops a great beat (MJG & Nil Jones co-produce 2 of the songs). A must have rap album for everyone.DISC 1 #1 - 8 #2 - 8.5 #3 - 8.5 (f/ Rodney Ellis) #4 - 9 (good beat) #5 - 7 (f/ Psycho Drama Boys) #6 - 9 (good story about messin' wit his homeboys girl) #7 - 9.5 (f/ MJG - great upbeat song) #8 - 4 (f/ Goodie Mobb) #9 - 8 (f/ Rodeny Ellis) #10 - 8.5 (f/ Rodney Ellis - nice relaxing beat) #11 - 7.5 (f/ Busta Rhymes) #12 - 8 (f/ Toni Hickman - about his ghetto girl - nice beat) #13 - 8 #14 - 9 (nice relaxing beat) DISC 2 #1 - 10 (CLASSIC -- f/ Spice 1, Rappin 4-Tay, E-40 -- great beat) #2 - 8.5 (f/ MJG) #3 - 9.5 (good beat & story about growin' up and gettin' to be big time) #4 - 7 (f/ Redman) #5 - 5 (f/ Master P, Silkk the SHiocker, Mystikal, Psycho Drama Boys) #6 - 8.5 (f/ Rodney Ellis) #7 - 9 (f/ MJG -- nice beat) #8 - 10 (CLASSIC -- f/ Bun B -- great beat) #9 - 8.5 #10 - 9 (nice relaxing beat) #11 - 7.5 #12 - 9.5 (f/ Phoenix Johnson -- another good realxing beat) Primro Smith -- b. around 1971 -- Memphis, TN check all my reviews

1 of the best of 3,
By kevin robinson "PlayWitchaMama" (Soul Heaven) - See all my reviews

This is one of the best double cd's out the 3 best. The other two being 2pac "all eyes on me" and Biggie "life after death". This cd can easily be compared to both of those. It has dope lyrics, beats, flow, right amount of guest, and both cd's are bangin.A lot of people slept on this because it did not get mainstream exposure, but it is truly a good album. Out of both disc i may skip two songs. The guest on this cd is amazing, people from all coast are on here. I promise if you even semi like 8Ball u will like this album. Hotep!!

jono, your review was gono,

See, right there you buried yourself in a pile of flaming crap, jono. The whole reason that you did not like this album, is because you like master p. master p, silkk and whatever no limit toilet flusher was on this album, made the album drop in value by at least half. Listen to the album again or something. This album was good. they all had good beats. that is why eightball and mjg have been making hit after hit, for year after year. that is what you seem to be going after here, your sense of irony, to say how bad one album is, and then say how much you like master p. For your own sake, do us all a favor, don't buy any more albums. all you will do is say something else that won't make any sense.Oh yeah, this album is off the hook. All of the tracks are dope, even the master p song. But just take him off the track, and it would be ten times better

Eightball ...has he "Lost" it?,
By NEOSOUL (Atlanta, Ga.) - See all my reviews

I did not order this one through Amazon but, if you have read any of my other reviews then you know, I am an 8 Ball & MJG die hard fan! I know, this cd came out a few years back but I am just getting around to reviewing it. Anyway, this was the solo album for 8 Ball and it really is not as hott as the others. Yeah, it has a track or two but nothing to write home about. I would not suggest picking it up unless you just want to complete your collection. Sorry to say, but Lost gets no airplay in the ride. YMMV. NEOSOUL06.
