5.0 out of 5 stars Super Smooth, Hott!
Being that I am a huge Donell Jones fan, I cannot believe I had to slip up on this release. This is a really nice & even album, with Donell's ever smooth voice. The title is so on point, listening to the CD you can tell these songs fit with his vibe from his earlier releases like My Heart & Where I Wanna Be. Without a doubt, this album will leave you feeling transported...

3.0 out of 5 stars "The Lost Files" by Donell Jones
Donell Jones has been in the music industry since the mid-1990s. His first song was a remake of Stevie Wonder's "Knocks Mw Off My Feet", a song that has become one of my favorites ever (Stevie's version). Donell became relatively popular after that song was released and I'm almost certain his good looks and dimples had much to do with that. But good looks are not all he...

3.0 out of 5 stars "The Lost Files" by Donell Jones, July 27, 2010

Donell Jones has been in the music industry since the mid-1990s. His first song was a remake of Stevie Wonder's "Knocks Mw Off My Feet", a song that has become one of my favorites ever (Stevie's version). Donell became relatively popular after that song was released and I'm almost certain his good looks and dimples had much to do with that. But good looks are not all he possess; Donell is a talented vocalist. His style has always been very relaxed and calm. His music has always been that quiet storm type of sound.

Overall, "The Lost Files" is a decent album. Nothing here is in-your-face, innovative or groundbreaking, rather ballads for the most part. "Groove On" and "Forever" are highlights. These ballads are mellow and can easily be used as a soundtrack for a night with your special someone. In "Forever", Donell is informing his lady that he will always be there for her since she has never left him. "Groove On" has a nice beat and lyrics. Listen closely and this song can bring to mind Donell's hit, "Where I Wanna Be." "Allnite" and "Stressin'" are both lackluster moments on "The Lost Files." Both of these tracks are up-tempo and hmmm, perhaps Donell should hire big-time producers for his faster numbers or just leave them alone all together. "A**ville" does not mesh with the flow of the album an overall this track is distasteful.

If you opt to purchase this album, I believe you will find a handful of tracks you will replay, however, this is not one of those "just press play" CDs because there is filler.

Mikeisha's Top 5

1. "Sergeant Louise"

2. "Groove On"

3. "Superman"

4. "Bad Boy"

5. "Forever"

4.0 out of 5 stars Candyman Music represents!, March 31, 2010
This review is from: The Lost Files (Audio CD)
I thought I was a pretty loyal Donell Jones fan until I saw him on "The Mo'Nique Show" talking about a December album that I had no idea about. I immediately supported the digital album, and I was very pleased to interview him for my Associated Content page as well. And as he stated during the interview, "I try to make every record a single. I never want to make an album where you get two songs and that's it. I want to make sure if a person puts this album on if they're getting ready to make love to their mate, they don't have to get up and fast forward. If they're driving a long distance, they can drive and be comfortable and relaxed. I feel like I make all-purpose music."

He did just that with this album. I wasn't crazy about "Journey of a Gemini," but I still play "Where I Wanna Be" on heavy rotation. And I'm digging this album, too. The only songs I didn't like were the intro part of the "Reggae Remix" (although the actual song was cool) and "A**ville," which was way too tacky for his brand. It was more of a Souljah Boy "She Got a Dunk" type of song, and I'm used to Donell Jokes bringing grown and sexy in the mix.

I let a co-worker here the album and she said the same thing I've always believed: "He has a beautiful voice and it reminds me of '70s artists." Even when the song isn't my favorite, I'll listen to it just to hear him sing. But overall this was a pretty good album. "Stressin'" is one of those songs that anybody who has been in a frustrating relationship will relate to even if you don't smoke weed. "Free" and "Sergeant Louise" (the happiest DUI song I've ever heard) are the best ones on here though.

I'm very much looking forward to his next album coming out this year.

I fell in love with Donell Jones first 2 Cd's and this Cd reminds me of them. I just happened to stumble on it on this site. This is a great cd with the exception of about 2 or 3 songs that I skip through (thats why I only gave it 4 stars). It reminds of the Donell I fell in love with. Where have ya'll be hiding this release? I can not wait until the next one. Any fans of his who buy this will not be disappointed.

I searched for this cd after seeing him on Monique, I have been waiting for a new Donell Jones cd, (does this guy get any air play?) I love his music, it's very smooth. I used to be

a huge R. Kelly fan he was my number one. But, his lyrics are so distasteful, I've moved

on to Donell and Joe. Nice to listen to and bob your head.

4.0 out of 5 stars Damn Baby!, April 28, 2010

I love D. Jones!! Everything he puts out is smoothed out on an R&B tip. His voice is so melodic, he truly does not receive the recognition he so deserves but then maybe thats why he has held on in the game. And for that, I am happy. Keep doin what you do Donell

It's a shame this album was not marketed in the manner as his first and subsequent albums/CDs. You can definitely relax by candle light and enjoy conversation while "The Lost File" plays in the background.
