Book Description

(A prequel precedes this book, called Not Today, But Someday. While not necessary to read it first, it's a good companion piece to the series.)

This is the beginning of an atypical romance.

When artist Nate Wilson falls in love, he falls hard. The problem is, he’s only been in love once, and the girl of his affections is his best friend, Emi Hennigan. In high school, the two bonded over painful breakups, and swore off a relationship to save their friendship. Thirteen years later, Nate has had more than his share of emotionally-unfulfilling, sexual relationships with beautiful women to distract himself from his true romantic feelings.

When a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity takes Nate away from his friend and his comfortable lifestyle, he is forced to reflect on the distinct void that Emi’s absence leaves in his life. To Nate’s surprise, Emi has a similar experience; but as the friends embark upon their journey toward happiness together, destiny reveals other plans for Emi.

This romantic drama is the first of three books in the Emi Lost & Found series. This second edition features a new cover illustrated by Summer Ortiz.

About the Author

After graduating from the University of Texas at Arlington in 1997 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Lori Otto worked in the billboard industry for ten years. This is the first book in a trilogy (I'm currently in the middle of book 2 and I can't put it down) and my favorite thing about it is the characters. The author draws you in and makes these characters so real that I felt like Emi and Nate were close personal friends of mine. I truly cared about what happened to them, would they find true love or not? Very reality based, not just fluff. One word of caution, this 1st book has some graphic sex scenes in it so it is not for kids. Great first book by a new author!

4.0 out of 5 stars Cancelled on friends to keep reading! July 16, 2012

I'll try to review without giving anything away... I really enjoyed this book - I got very involved with the characters and their lives and that's as a result of the great writing. Once I started it, I really didn't want to put it down and catching up with friends just had to be sacrificed! This is a great start to the series, but be prepared for the rollercoaster that is book 2. I've recommended this series to many people and I haven't gotten any complaints yet (well apart from Nate not being real - although if he was I'd have kept him all to myself!). Definitely worth a read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lori Otto is a great new author April 22, 2012

I loved this book. It constantly amazes me how an author can capture place and time and emotion in words. Lori makes me feel like I'm in New York or L.A. And it 's familiar and part of me and I'm part of the story. The characters feel like people I know, they are believable and you want to root for them and invest in them. I can't think of a better feeling when I read a book, the feeling of wanting to affect the action and Lori does that for me. The fact that this is the first in a series of three books is a bonus. It drives me crazy when I get to the end of the book and I'm not ready to stop reading the story. So on to books 2 & 3!

Found this book irritating to read only to be hit with the cliff hanger at the end. If you are into a book full of sex and not much else you might enjoy it.

More About the Author

After an exhilarating, collaborative writing project, Lori L. Otto had an idea for an original novel. The characters and their rich stories would keep her awake at night, and even with barely any sleep, she felt more alert and alive than she had in years. Her days off were spent in cafés, sandwich shops and bookstores, feverishly trying to get all of the details out of her head and onto paper.
