2.0 out of 5 stars Great trance and vocals - lousy content
I may be the minority here, but am I the only one that is looking for a little more fulfillment in their trance music?

I am a fond lover of trance and follower of the great spinners of trance, progressive trance, and some of the newest electronica. I would say my love for vocal trance probably started around the era of Sarah McLaughlin's SILENCE, remixed...

I bought this from amazon.co.uk last year and didn't really listen to it enough after it arrived to really appreciate it. But just before easter I put the whole album on my portable mp3 player and I've been playing it almost daily through the whole easter holiday. And the album definetly grew a lot on me. Now I listen to it when I'm in the mood for vocal trance with an emotional touch and deep, heartfelt lyrics. The whole album is awesome but some standout songs are:

Where Are You Now
Crying
Crazy
Waiting 4 You (LOVE this song! I hope it will be a future single!!)
My Own
Time 2 Go
Inspiration
State Of Mind
Believe

When I listen to Waiting 4 You, it almost brings me to tears every time cos it's so haunting and beautiful. It also reminds me a lot of Frozen and The Power Of Goodbye, both amazing Madonna songs and hearing another amazing song in the same vein coming from my favourite dance group was totally the icing on the cake for me. A song that shows Annemie's talent to its fullest both as a singer and a songwriter. Thumbs up!

5.0 out of 5 stars fantastic!!!, December 5, 2004
This review is from: Lost & Found (Audio CD)
well, here we are, a couple of years go buy without a sound, then all of a sudden IAN VAN DAHL are back with this excellant cd full tracks that all have future hit written all over them!! all the tracks are fantasic but my fav tracks are, come 2 me, time 2 go, state of mind, crazy and rollercoaster(all the tracks are brill though). over here in England we love dance/trance music and IAN VAN DAHL are pretty huge over here, i think they have filled the massive gap left by ALICE DEEJAY. if you like artist's such as LASGO, ALICE DEEJAY then you should really give this album a listen!!!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars ACE is good, but this is unbelievable, August 21, 2004
This review is from: Lost & Found (Audio CD)
Like so many others in the past, Ian Van Dahl started off on the right foot making a few outstanding singles, and then produced a rather average even dull at times debut album such as ACE. Well they've definitely learned from that mistake, because this new album "Lost & Found" provides even better songs than the singles. "I Can't Let You Go" which was the lead single off this album is by far better than their already amazing dark-hinted debut single "Castles In The Sky." Following closely are the next two singles "Where Are You Now", and "Believe." But it doesn't stop there. Ian Van Dahl definitey did not fail when it came to making beautifully crafted melodic vocal trance anthems. The standouts of this album are the surprisingly contagious "I Can't Let You Go"; two chilling dance anthems which are sure to be classics "Crying", "Crazy"; a freestyle influenced trancy styled club hit, "My Own"; a beautiful ballad by a trance group which is surprisingly flawless, "Waiting For You"; Midnite Ibiza standout which I think should be the next single, "Do You Feel The Same"; The 80's influenced "Walking Away"; a slow starter but definitely stands out "State Of Mind"; and of course my personal favorite track "Without You."

This is not your average vocal trance. They certainly came a long way since the days of Ace. This is one group who will definitely not face "Sophomore Slump." Ian Van Dahl is just getting started, and they're here to stay, so heres paving the way for the best vocal trance group around.

If you thought they couldn't repeat again with another trance stunner like Ace, think again, as Ian Van Dahl is back with a superb freakin' vengeance! Believe, Where Are You Now, and I Can't Let You Go have all been officially released as singles, but the offerings do not stop here, as there are even more awesome tracks to behold on this album!!!

There isn't a bad track on here, with all the background trance melodies being incredibly danceable and catchy. If there is one flaw I have is that some of the choruses of the vocals are a bit repetitive, like in Crying and My Own.

This is hands down the best mainstream danceable trance album of 2004. It completely kicks butt over 4 Strings album Turn It Around which was released the same day.

And as for the best track on here, it is definitely track 8-Do You Feel the Same. This is slightly different type of dance style track that you can't hear and immediately say Ian Van Dahl, like you can with their other tracks. It's a knockout track and if they don't release it as a single they are nuts!!!

Run, don't walk to the nearest store, or press the buy it now button on amazon immediately and get overnight shipping because nobody should be without this slammin trance album right now!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb, Beautiful, Uplifting Vocal Trance....!, August 18, 2004
This review is from: Lost & Found (Audio CD)
This is the long-awaited debut US release by Belgium's vocal trance act, IAN VAN DAHL. The album "Lost And Found" is a very fresh and truly unique sound, all in its own. Lyrically speaking, it is more profound with the lead singer, Annemie Coennan pouring immense emotional talent in her voice. Tracks include:
1. I Can't Let You Go 3:47
2. Inspiration 3:35
3. Where Are You Now? 3:33
4. Crying 5:31
5. Crazy 3:47
6. My Own 6:26
7. Waiting 4 U 4:38
8. Do You Feel The Same 4:33
9. Come 2 Me 3:55
10. Time 2 Go 5:52
11. Rollercoaster 6:15
12. Without You 3:40
13. Believe 3:05
14. Walking Away 3:22
15. To Fall In Love 6:04
16. State Of Mind 3:32
The whole cd is nearly 71 minutes long!..which is great..although all the songs are truly flawless, the standout tracks include: "I Can't Let You Go", "Crying", "Do You Feel The Same", "Rollercoaster"(which is basically an instrumental euphoric trance anthem), "Without You", "Believe", and "To Fall In Love"....If one has to alleviate all the stress, anxiety, or just after a long day..then just run to your store and buy this CD!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Awaken, my fellow Americans, this is GREAT STUFF, January 1, 2006
This review is from: Lost & Found (Audio CD)
This is an astonishly beautiful collection of music. If you think Annemie (the girl on the cover) is beautiful (and SHE IS), you should know she is also the talented lyricist and vocalist as well. A powerful voice that is as smooth and sweet as honey. I'm so impressed with the arrangements, mixing, and originality. Even if you don't generally care for European trance, dance (yeah, it can get monotonous), this album BREAKS THE MOLD. I like to listen to it during work, in the car, etc. Not just for dancing. Very impressive!

4.0 out of 5 stars Up There With The Best, January 20, 2005
By
coopertex (CA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Lost & Found (Audio CD)
Ian Van Dahl's Lost and Found is up there with the best vocal trance cds. The female vocalist dominates this cd and if you liked the previous album called "ACE" you will also love this one which has good beats, synths and tempo. Things start out great with "Can't Let You Go" which is about love longing, then things move onto a nice "Inspiration" which is a bit cheesy, then followed by a strange song called "Crying". My favorite track in the whole album is called "My Own" is slower paced than the other tracks but has that romantic overtone to the lyrics and mood of the music. Overall the songs have sad lyrics but upbeat tempo which conflicts to the positive mood in trance genre. But if you keep in mind that not all trance songs are about love, and positive energy there is the other side and it is shown here. I had a great time listening to this cd and I think you will as well!

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Incredible!!!, January 16, 2005
This review is from: Lost & Found (Audio CD)
After their big debut single Castles in The Sky and their hit album A.C.E. Ian Van Dahl has come back bigger and better than ever! Lost and Found combines intricately balanced dance, trance, and beautiful vocals into a whole and complete work. Songs such as Crying, Crazy, State of Mind, Time 2 Go and Do You Feel the Same? are great to dance to, while songs such as Waiting for You and To fall In Love, are great for relaxation, and day dreaming. Annemie Conen's beautiful voice captivates the listener and makes you want to come back and hear more. A must have CD for all types of listeners, and a superbe Album!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Follow Up, August 10, 2004
By

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Lost & Found (Audio CD)
Before I write this review I want to clear something up. Ian Van Dahl is not the DJ behind this cd. Ian Van Dahl is a project and a collective effort from 5 people beginning with the lead vocalist Annemie Coenen. She actually co-writes most of the songs and is not just a cover for vocals which strikes big points from me.

Now to this album. I listened to the album start to finish a few times this past weekend and I came away very pleased. "I Can't Let You Go, Where Are You Now?, and Believe" are the first 3 releases from this album. However, there are other songs in this album that are extremely good. "Come 2 Me and Time 2 Go" are hands down the best non-releases on this album. These songs could easily be played in the club circuit as they are fast and have some real high energy to them. "My Own" is also a good song that takes a while to develop, but near the end it picks up very nicely with a catchy theme. What really suprised me about this album is that is has a slow song on it and it is quite beautiful. "Waiting 4 You" is arguably my favorite song on this album and when I first heard it, it caught my ear.

All in all, you will not be disappointed with the purchase of this follow up to "Ace." Ian Van Dahl is quite a consistent and proven artist that will be in the club scene for quite some time ala Paul Van Dyk, DJ Icey, BT, etc.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Most Incredible Euro/Trance Album Today!!!, March 11, 2005
By
DeanK7 (Chicago, IL USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Lost & Found (Audio CD)
There is just no way of rating this one because in my opinion, this is the most awesome trance album today. I'm not sure from where you will be reading this from, but for us Euro/Trance deprived midwesterners, this is a great way to escape the music scene of today and enter the great sounds of european (beligian) dance music!! Every song from this album is unique in its own way, but never loses its pace. If you want strong bass beats, "I can't let you go", "Crying", "My Own", "Walking Away", and "State of Mind" is for you. If you want more of the laid back euro/trance, "Inspiration", "Where are you now", "Do you feel the same", "Come To Me", "Without You" is for you. I know I didn't name all of them and that's because they lie somewhere between the rest listed. I strongly recommend this to anyone who is into euro/trance, it is worth every penny!!!
