3.0 out of 5 stars Better than I expected
To tell you the truth, I'm not a David Spade fan...I find him irritating. But I'm a huge Sophie Marceau fan, and she was the only reason I decided to rent this movie (and even then reluctantly so). Well, the movie turned out to be better than I expected. And Spade was almost (operative word there) likable. Unoriginal? Yes; it share's too much in common with Something...

But it was good for a few laughs; even my wife enjoyed it (and she's not normally a big fan of movies of thie genre). And more importantly, I got my fix of the talented and lovely Ms. Marceau for the evening.

3.0 out of 5 stars Better than expected, December 28, 1999

I never really cared for David Spade, but had to see this movie because I'm a Sophie Marceau fan. Turned out that Spade was very funny, his character very likable, the story a little stale but enough laughs to make up for it. Very cute movie.

4.0 out of 5 stars A fine Romantic Comedy, July 31, 2000

Let me begin by asking you this: Are you a David Spade fan? If you are then you will definitely like this movie. If not, then chances are his antics will grow tiresome very early. I have found that with many people it's either love or hate with David Spade. On the other hand I enjoy his comedy and I loved this movie. Spade plays Dylan, a struggling restaurateur who falls for his beautiful new cello playing neighbor played by the always lovely and charming Sophie Marceau (The World is Not Enough). Unfortunately she hardly knows he exist. Dylan soon devises a plan to win her affections involving kidnapping her dog. As you may guess things quickly turn sour for Dylan. A missing ring, Lila's greasy ex-boyfriend, an obnoxious protégé that wants to be "just like him" not to mention a huge catering gig that could make or break his business, and you have some really funny moments.

Jeff Pollack's direction keeps the film moving, and tries to keep all of the gag's believable, even Spade's Neil Diamond impression. Spade is his usual sarcastic self, and his chemistry with Marceau is very good. Artie Lang is very funny as the Spade wanna be, a part that must have been written with Chis Farley in mind. There are also several good cameo's by John Lovitz (The Dog Whisperer), Martin Sheen (The Bank President), and several card playing old ladies that anyone over thirty will surely recognize. "Lost & Found" is very good romantic comedy that I would absolutely recommend, I liked it enough to watch it three times

5.0 out of 5 stars Great comedy, with a good heart, and that David Spade touch!, October 5, 2002

This movie is a real keeper, folks. I know it didn't do too well in theaters, but GIVE IT A CHANCE!

Lost & Found is the story of a restaurant owner (spade) named Dylan Ramsey, who is doing okay with his cafe, but not so well in the ladies department. He goes through one meaningless relationship after another, until he meets Lila, his new, cello playing neighbor who moves from France with her dog, Jack. Dylan fails to get any sort of attention from this girl until he decides to kidnap her dog, in order to spend time with and get to know her. Humor ensues, romance ensues. All-in-all, a great, fun romantic comedy that i recommend to anyone.

Great film. If you liked Tommy Boy, Black Sheep, or any of the other mindless comedies this one is for you. Plot, cast, story, all about the same. The star always comes out on top in the end. Just good hearted fun, gotta love it! PLUR - iKON

5.0 out of 5 stars great, January 3, 2000
This review is from: Lost and Found (DVD)
One Word people: Great. This movie is a collection of some of the best acting, dialogue, and one-liners ever. It is unoriginal, but i place this movie OVER There's Something About Mary. We continue going to see @Quentin Tarantino films, thought they aren't original. Come on people, this is one of the funniest movies of all time, it is on my top 10 list. Email me for the other 9. Thanks, Jonathan

1.0 out of 5 stars Only for David Spade's Biggest Fans, December 5, 2003
By
This review is from: Lost and Found (DVD)
David Spade plays the typical David Spade character here: a smarmy, semi-witty wise guy who is deeply self-involved and frequently unscrupulous. Sophie Marceau plays a cellist with a little dog. Guess who takes her dog so that he can "find" it and earn her gratitude? Guess whether anything will go wrong with the old-hat plan? Guess who eventually gets on Mlle Marceau's good side? So much for the "plot." As a comedy, this is pretty tired stuff. Sadly, to prep the ever-adorable Sophie Marceau for her part as a cello virtuoso, the director seems to have had her coached in bowing and fingering for about five minutes. ... Of course, we usually don't go to comedies or heroic adventure films for the realistic musicianship of the actors--but the sloppiness of this element in THIS film is just one more insult to the audience. After all, duh, the e-a Marceau is supposedly playing a professional cellist.

2.0 out of 5 stars THERE'S SOMETHING ABOUT SPADE!, February 28, 2009
This review is from: Lost and Found (DVD)
OK, I happen to like David Spade and this film is dangerously close to stealing the plot of 'There's Something About Mary' with nowhere near the wit or charm, but I have to say I was able to watch this so-so romantic comedy and laugh a few times. This is not an original film by any stretch, but fans of Spade or the beautiful Sophie Marceau should enjoy this lighthearted romp. Most of the jokes fall flat, but there is enough going for this one to give it a look when there's nothing else on the tube!

4.0 out of 5 stars Is there a better choice?, June 5, 2001
This review is from: Lost and Found (DVD)
Is there a better choice for a leading man in today's current crop of Hollywood hunks than David Spade? Not likely. I'm giving this movie four stars out of five only because David never goes starkers onscreen. Then, this movie would be bar none, the best film ever! Witty dialogue, well developed characters, and the classic story of boy stalks hot chick, boy steals hot chick's dog, hot chick finds boy mildly tolerable, boy lip syncs a Neil Diamond song, hot chick finds out boy stole her dog from smarmy foreign boyfriend, boy apologizes, hot chick marries him for a green card. Fresh off her winning performance in Braveheart, Sophie Marceau is serviceable as Spade's love interest and concert cellist. She didn't know how lucky she is to act alongside such a talent. First rate comedy fun!
