The Lost I,
This review is from: The Lost I (Kindle Edition)
"Almost all novels (and movies) about wars feature soldiers. What is so unique and remarkable about this war novel is that it's about civilians, noncombatants, people caught by chance in the crossfire of combatants. That the author shows in gut ranching detail how this psychic hurrucane sweeps through the lives of these innocent people makes this novel a gem. The author also does a beautiful of showing how this couple's love is impacted by the nearness of Death. Nayla must find a way out of her shell, or she might die without clarifying some very important things with Samer. That aspect adds to the power of this novel. So, not only do we have an external war blasting away around us as we read, but we also have Nayla's internal suffering as she struggles out of her cultural and/or shell of shyness. Well I can't say enough good things about the story itself, nor about how adaptly the author has sequenced the story events and magnified the key events. It's been a terrific experience reading this." R.G. (Writer's Digest)
