A Real Time Treat...,
By Nathaniel Perkins (Boston, MA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Lost Kingdoms II (Video Game)
The game had exactly what I was looking for, non-linearity mixed with a engaging real time combat engine based on a customizable power system. In LK 2, you collect cards and build battle decks to move through interesting (and varied!) levels. Each of the cards you use gains experience which allows them to be copied and upgraded. Each card also has an attribute associated with it: Fire, Water, Earth, Wood, Neutral, and Mechanical. The elements each have an element that it is strong against and one that it is weak against. The Neutral and Mechanical attributes are non-aligned. This means you can customize your deck before each level to take advantage of the enemies you will face. Your saved game can hold 8 different decks. Deck management, and moving through the menu system in general is painless. Save and load times are short. There are 226 different cards available in the game. Game length should take about 30 hours if you are enjoying yourself. What makes this game for me is the non-linearity aspect. You will revisit previous levels as you aquire new, more powerful cards, in order to open roads to new areas. While there is a basic plotline that you progress along, you are free to take your time and play around on other levels before getting around to advancing the plot. There have been some negative reviews out there, but I have no idea what they are talking about. I am loving this game, it was money well spent.

The original Lost Kingdoms was good. But THIS is better. The graphics are better, the sound is better, and the controls are much better. It has MUCH better camera angles than the first game, and the battle system is much better. You can use a card wherever you want now, not just in battle. And there's a voiceover. Sometimes the voiceover sounds a little cheesy, but it's usually pretty good. The music is pretty good, too. It fits the game really well. The only bad thing is that it's too short! I beat it in around ten hours! There are quite a few sidequests that I didn't finish yet, though. But still...TEN HOURS?!? By the end, I was thinking, "C'mon, gimme more!" A wonderful game like this shouldn't be so short. Well, overall, I'd give this game an A-. It's a great game... at least rent it, alright?

This game is great for people who love Zelda and other RPGS. It is a unique game that has fixed many of the problems and fustrations that occurred during the first game. There are many new cards and 2 new types that change the fighting style dramaticly. This game is obviously an improvment on the first game which was great to begin with. I think this is a game to buy or at least rent first.

Lost Kingdoms II is the sequel to the best seller, Lost Kindoms. In this game, you use cards to summon powerful creatures to fight for you. This game pits you in a story that takes place long after the original game, in an all-new action packed story. New with this game is better controls, better camera angles, a fair voiceover system, many new cards, the ability to use cards outside of battle (which you need to overcome many obstacles and gain certain cards), and much better graphics. This game is a great expansion on the first. It makes the first game worth playing.

This is one of the best games i have ever played. it has a great style of fighting system. Your card-style battle system is really fun, but you often have to waste cards. I really liked the game's graphics. I was dissappointed that you don't play as the same character as Lost Kindgdoms 1. I like the card transformation style. The game is fairly easy and really fun, but you have to re-visit the same levels over and over when you get new cards and abilities. It is a great game, but could have been better in comparison to Lost Kingdoms 1. I would advise buying this game, but definitely play Lost Kingdoms 1 first. ~ If you were disappointed by the fact that you could only use cards in battle in L.K.1, be happy. You can now use cards all the time and in every moment (you can not use cards in towns that are not inhabited by bad guys or monsters)

This game is an adventure game like no other. In the game your a woman that has a deck full of cards (not like yugioh). You go around levels with your monster cards and summon them to fight when enemies come and attack you, you can also summon them for the heck of it. In the game you can also buy cards and upgrade cards and evolve cards. The game is not to hard and its quit long, so thats a good thing. I'm a hardcore video game type guy but this one I love. Defenatly check this game out, you wont be dissapointed, and this one is just like the first one but with new monsters and some old ones to, better graphics, and new levels.

this game is incredible and i enjoy it. it is has a good plot and the whole idea of the game is great. You throw cards out that summon monsters to fight for you (not turn based.) And the levels are sweet.Would have given it 6 stars if possible.DEFINTETLY worth it.

It's a good game.,

This game is all around pretty fun, it is fairly short so I'd say don't get it during the summer if you're going to play it nonstop. To beat the entire storyline and a couple side levels took me only ten hours, but there are still a lot of side things I can do. If you've played the first one, there are a lot more cards than it, and some have been changed. They changed it so getting cards back costs more and the cards are harder to find, and healing isn't nearly as easy as it is in the first game. All in all I think you should get this game if you liked the first one and don't play nonstop. |
