The most romantic book of the series!,
By
This review is from: Lost Lady (Mass Market Paperback)
This may be the most romantic book you'll ever read! _Lost Lady_, the second in the James River Trilogy is by far the best book of the series. The story of Travis Stanford and Regan Weston is a turbulent ride of highs and lows. You'll joy at the journey of Regan, a high born English lady who's been sheltered all of her life, as she makes the long transition from frightened waif to powerful, confident and passionate woman. You'll marvel at Travis's overpowering, bigger than life romance. You'll sigh, you'll laugh, you'll cry, and you'll wish this could come true. _Lost Lady_ is a fine example of Ms. Deveraux at her all time best, mixing just the right amount of melt-your-heart romance and heart-wrenching angst she delivers a powerful tale of romance that will sweep you away. Worth reading over and over again if for no other reason than to sigh at the fairy tale wedding night and the unbelievable proposal. First rate romance. You'll never look at flowers, especially roses, the same way again.

A Fortune Denied,
By
This review is from: Lost Lady (Mass Market Paperback)
Jude Deveraux's LOST LADY captivates the reader to follow the growth of Regan Weston is expelled from her own home to face a strange world alone. The seemingly sweet simple girl is equal to the task and flees to Colonies, where love and adventure await her. A crude America forces her to put aside all illusions and stand on her own.
Jude Deveraux's James River series has stood the test of time and is as good a read today as when it was first published. Nash Black, author of Indie finalists WRITING AS A SMALL BUSINESS and HAINTS.

A Thrilling adventure,

Ah. Jude does it again! It seems like lately, all I want to do is to sink into a romantic book and let the characters' love life and problems sweep me away ~~ I can count on a good ending which is what I need at this time. This book didn't disappoint me! I thoroughly enjoyed this book ~~ in spite of a busy life as mother of toddler twins and a wife ~~ I managed to "escape" for a few hours in reading this novel.
Regan manages to escape her overbearing uncle and guardian and lost her finace ~~ only to land into Travis Stanford's arms. Never wooed or courted by the demanding Travis, Regan falls hard in love with this rugged American. Then she left him ~~ and that is when the novel really got to be fun for me! The heartaches they both suffered because of their stubbornness, but Travis really came through in the romance department. This is a perfect novel for these chilly winter nights ahead ~~ it is bound to carry the reader away into a land of romance and happy endings. 10-3-04

I can't beleive I bought this book! It was too rushed I am used to the heroine and hero caring for each other first before falling into bed together. I mean they were already doing it in the second chapter!! I only read the first couple of chapters and couldn't get myself to read anymore. I rather like books like Jude's "Knight in Shining Armor."
This novel really turned me off it's almost more like a bad contemporary novel than a historical one. I found the heroine irritating and way too childish and the hero could of been likeable if he wasn't too "easy." I'm sorry Mrs Deveraux but this type of romance was definately not my type. My recommendation for the reader definately borrow it first before you decide to buy.

one of jude devearaux's best historical romances!,
This review is from: Lost Lady (Mass Market Paperback)
There was no need to bookmark any page in this book because every single page was worth a second and third reading. English Regan, a seventeen year old girl, upon hearing her fiance and uncle speak disparagingly of her and the real reason for marriage, decides to run away and right into the arms of our hero, American Travis Stanford, one of the most lovable and warm heroes I have come across in a long long time and I am a huge fan of historical romance! I only read historical romance!
This is an amazing read. What a refreshing escape from the conventional storyline where the two lovebirds bicker continuously. Regan and Travis fall passionately in each other's embraces and are not shy to hide their love with harsh words or misunderstandings. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is searching for a next cutesy read. There are so many "aw" moments and enough love scenes (about 7 or so, the book is short!) to feel the love between these two characters. You don't have to be a fan of devearaux to see how incredibly lovely this book is. Anyone who wants to escape into a warm world with a cute alpha hero and a heroine who must learn how to come into her own person should this book a try. i promise you won't be disappointed. so any "awwww" moments.....will you saying, "aw" at every scene.

Lost Lady was the first book i read of Jude and i really enjoy how the story goes. I really thought Regan was wonderful how she runs away and teach Travis a lesson. Well, after i read this i went out and brought Conterfeit lady, and then River Lady. I think there all good, but my favorvite one is River Lady. I hope you will enjoy it as much as i did!

Like all of the men in the James River Trilogy books, this one can be a bit of a jerk, but by the end, you see that he isn't as arrogant as he first appeared. I always enjoy reading about women who change and grow, and this book is quite an example of how one woman grew to become very independent. It wasn't until she found herself that she could love someone else.
