This review is from: The Lost Locket of Windbrace Hall (Paperback)
This was the first Gothic Romance I ever read and it got me addicted! The plot was not easy to figure out which was great because I can usually figure out the bad guy early in mysteries. I loved this so much I look forward to reading more Beverly Warren and others in the genre.

This review is from: The Lost Locket of Windbrace Hall (Paperback)
Falsely accused of theft, Juliet Fletcher fled across the barren windswept moors with nothing but the precious locket she treasured above all else. When Lord Victor Manchester found her, all alone in the world and suffering from hunger and exposure, his generous offer of a position seemed like the answer to Juliet's prayers.
But Windbrace Hall proved even more inhospitable than the savage moors. For its turreted walls sheltered an unknown enemy who immediately recognized the locket Juliet wore, and knew the dark secret it concealed.
Her safe haven had become a prison where she could trust no one, least of all the handsome master of Windbrace Hall himself.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love, Mystery, Intrigue...what more can you want?, August 3, 1999

This review is from: The Lost Locket of Windbrace Hall (Paperback)
I absolutely loved this book. I was not able to put it down. I thought that the characters were quite interesting and the story had many dimensions to it. One minute it was a love story, the next a thriller...it was unpredictable, which was great!. I was not able to figure out who the true villain was. After i was finished the book ,i kept wanting more. I have never been so intrigued by a book before. Although there weren't too many pages dedicated to Victor and Juliet's lovestory, you still got the sense that there was a courting of some sort. Excellent book.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of my favorite Gothic Romances!!, July 30, 2010
This review is from: The Lost Locket of Windbrace Hall (Paperback)
From beinging to end The Lost Locket of Windbrace Hall will not disappoint you!! The main character Juliet runs away from her abusive stepfather and lives on the moor. There she finds an injured, unconscious, and very handsome Victor. Juliet tends to Victor until he is able to leave. During that time Juliet falls head over heels for Victor's charm. Once Victor is gone, Juliet gets into trouble with a snotty family who mistake her for a thief. Running away once again across the moor Juliet falls ill and finds herself in the arms Victor. Now it is his turn to take care of her. While Juliet lives at his home and becomes a companion to his sister, there are several attempts to kill her...... But who would want her dead and why?
This book is a wonderful read! Of all the Zebra Gothics I have, the ones from Beverly C. Warren are my favorites. I enjoy the love story of this book because you can really tell how much they love and care about each other.

A Shadow of Suspicion - "Julie, I suspect the poisoned needle was meant for you," Victor said.
I blanched. My legs weakened beneath me. Victor's grip on my shoulders tightened, and he pulled me against the length of his body, holding me in a tight embrace. He cradled my head against his chest with one hand, and I could hear his heartbeat. My own heart picked up the cadence.
"Once you saved my life," he said. "I would hate to think I have put your life in peril by bringing you to Windbrace. I pray to God I am wrong." He kissed me on the forehead, then held me at arm's length. "Lock your door when I leave," he said.
I leaned against the door after I had locked it, savoring the feel of being in his arms . . .
