3.0 out of 5 stars GREAT!!!
Am I the only one that thinks "Can't Get Excited" should be in the new Viagra commercials. I love that song. 5.0 out of 5 stars First US Multi-Platinum Album Deserves it's Success, December 30, 1999
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Lost in Love (Audio CD)
This album contains Air Supply's first 3 smash hit US singles which have become absolute classics. There is a wide variety of styles on this album, from the soft ballad, to the disco-themed Just Another Woman, to the hard-rocking I Can't Get Excited and even a bit of country with Old Habits Die Hard. It's interesting to go back and listen to such an early effort and see how their music has evolved over the years. Their incredible talent, however , shines through on every album !

This album really laid out the framework for the commercially successful Air Supply the made them famous. Their biggest and most recognizable songs are on this cd. "Lost in Love", "All Out of Love", "Chances" and, "Every Woman in the World". I personally could've done without "Just Another Woman". It's just a little too discoey. But I fell in love with "Having you Near Me" the instant I heard it. Great album. One of my favorites.

4.0 out of 5 stars Air Supply's Best Studio Album Given the MLPS Treatment With Mixed Results!, April 1, 2011
This review is from: Lost In Love (Audio CD)
This mini-lp replica sleeve (mlps) version of Air Supply's best studio non-compilation album is a bit of a mixed bag for collectors and fans. As far as mlps designs go this is pretty average compared to what is out there and is poorly and cheaply assembled looking like it will fall apart soon once the glue gets old. In fact, my copy is already starting to come apart. Also included is a 16-page booklet with all the lyrics in both English and Japanese as well as a cardboard square resembing an alternative album cover featuring a windsurfer instead of the more familiar main cover at least that I'm used to that has all 5 band members posing in front of a skyscraper.

As far as the content goes though, the sound quality is pretty decent although a little over-compressed for my taste and the tracks here represent some of their best ever works. As an album this works well too as the tracks have a nice flow to them and even the bonus tracks are pretty decent. We get the U.S. version of "Lost In Love", "All Out of Love", "Every Woman In the World" which happen to be 3 of their biggest hits as well as other minor album track hits such as "Having You Near Me", "American Hearts", "Chances" and "Old Habits Die Hard".

What's interesting is that despite Air Supply being known for their obvious ballad strengths tracks such as "Just Another Woman" and "I Can't Get Excited" are decent enough uptempo numbers that make this album not entirely a snooze-fest if you are not in a romantic/mellow mood. In fact, this is a pretty strong album track-wise with no obvious filler material at least to me and even the bonus tracks deserve special mention. The first of these is the original Australian version of "Lost in Love" which clocks in at 5 mins 29 secs as compared to the U.S. 3 mins 54 secs and after listening to both I was pleasantly surprised to find that the much better and hence definitive version of the track is the bonus one. It's amazing just how much better that track sounds when it's given a chance to slowly unwind and to breathe like a fine wine. The second bonus track "Empty Pages" sounds like a David Gates/Bread track and is pretty good with "Love and Other Bruises" rounding up the album.

For a brief period in the early 80s, Air Supply dominated the airways and although even as a tween I didn't really appreciate their music as much as my peers at the time I do have to give them props for generating the excitement that they did albeit very briefly at the time and if I had to choose one studio album of theirs as their best, this one would be it.

Average at best mlps release, okay sound quality and good tracks that flow well plus good bonus tracks makes this a mixed bag.

5.0 out of 5 stars I finally found this Album, November 10, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Lost in Love (Audio CD)
I have been looking for this CD for quite some time and never seemed to be able to locate it at any large Retailer and/or Specialty Music Store.
I decided to go ahead and see if I could locate the CD on Amazon.com and sure enough, found it and immediately purchased it for a low, low price. As a matter of fact, Shipping costs were more than the Product itself. However, it was a price I was more than willing to pay in order to get my hands on this CD.

4.0 out of 5 stars Soothing music that focuses on love and relationships, August 26, 1999

This review is from: Lost in Love (Audio CD)
The instrumentals are actually very diverse, and although it is considered "bubble gum pop" compared to todays' standards, the music takes me back to my teen years in the 80's

Any person with appreciation for musical talent knows that Air Supply is one of the best bands ever. Graham Russell is one of the finest writers ever and a very talent all-around musician. Russell Hitchcock has one of the strongest, most powerful voices I've ever heard. And it all shows on this fine album. Besides the radio songs, Having you near me, Old habits die hard, and American hearts are all very much worth hearing.

4.0 out of 5 stars Awesome!, January 31, 2003
This review is from: Lost in Love (Audio CD)
A perfectly cool CD! This was a great CD for Air Supply to introduce themselves to the US with. "Lost In Love" and "All Out Of Love" are absolutely incredible! Russell Hitchcock's vocals are pure gold. "Just Another Woman" is a somewhat repetitive but very upbeat song. And I love "American Hearts". It's so true! This CD is really cool. I love it!
