4.0 out of 5 stars Lost in the Mist of Time
This is one of the best time travel books I have ever read. Aislinn, our heroine travels back in time to Ireland through a strange mist with a handsome stranger her family has taken in. She soon adapts to life in sixteenth century Ireland where she faces a tumultuous world that is full of intrigue and mystery.
The handsome stranger, Dougray Fitzpatrick, is everything...

3.0 out of 5 stars Just kept going on and on
I wanted to love this book, I really did. I read the bio on the author who said she is a fan of Diana Gabaldon...so I thought we had something in common since the Outlander series are my all-time favorite books. I think because of this I expected a really good story.

The author is very talented and shows a lot of promise....she could be a great storyteller...

I wanted to love this book, I really did. I read the bio on the author who said she is a fan of Diana Gabaldon...so I thought we had something in common since the Outlander series are my all-time favorite books. I think because of this I expected a really good story.

The author is very talented and shows a lot of promise....she could be a great storyteller. But this book seemed to go on and on without anything really happening...except for the guy and girl always being at odds over something completely ridiculous. After about the fifth time I just didn't buy into it, and I couldn't wait to be finished with the darn thing (I paid $35 bucks for the book...I was determined to finish it!)

If this had been reduced to about 300 pages it might have been really good.

I will look for more books from this author, but next time I definitely won't pay full price!

The handsome stranger, Dougray Fitzpatrick, is everything a girl dreams about in a macho man. It doesn't take long for Dougray and Aislinn to butt heads but of course, they cannot fight their budding attraction to each other. Aislinn soon becomes known as Scathach, a legendary warrior woman and goddess known for her extraordinary fighting skills. Aislinn fits in perfectly with the clan and makes friends by helping others. With her oddly open ways, she soon has the loyalty of Dougray's clan except for a few with betrayal on their minds.

I won't ruin the rest by saying to much, but I found it hard to put this book down and was so sad when I got to the last page. I hope Ms. Nutt continues to write and a sequel would be most welcome by this reader.

The only fault I found in this book is that the editing wasn't the greatest and there were quite a few errors such as punctuation, misspelling and misuse of certain words but other than that I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to escape for awhile into a richly detailed fantasy.

5.0 out of 5 stars A MUST READ!, July 30, 2006
This review is from: Lost in the Mist of Time (Paperback)
Aislinn Hennessy is a twentieth century woman with no luck with love; which is rather ironic because she writes romance stories. Dougray Fitzpatrick is a sixteenth Century lord whose wife was killed in an unfortunate accident and now has caused a feud between the clans.

An old woman perdicts that the two will be brought together through a magical mist, which Dougray believes to be ridiculous until it happens.

Aislinn must learn to adapt to 16th century Ireland with all its violence and petty fueds. To Dougray's dismay, Aislinn tends to find herself in trouble more times than not. He claims that he doesn't want another wife, but his heart says another. Aislinn wants to find true love, but she has a difficult time accepting it could be someone from another century. This writer takes you on a journey through time, making you laugh, cry, cheer that chivalry isn't dead, and that in the end love triumphs.

A Must Read!

I was like most people, hesitant to spend this amount of money...but it was well worth it...I am in constant pursuit of the time travel romance novels that can not only "take me away" with them, but keep me wondering where we are going...this one brought me in for the adventure and had me never wanting to leave...a MUST HAVE....I'm hoping the author will continue the story of the other characters....

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellant long read, November 22, 2007
This review is from: Lost in the Mist of Time (Paperback)
One reviewer said that this book was too expensive. It is long enough to be two books(550 pages) so if you look at it that way the price isn't too bad...$15.00 a book. I was hesitant at first but am very glad that I bought it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Outragous Price, but a good read, April 7, 2009

I enjoyed reading this story. It was well written, but a bit rambling. For me it was an enjoyable read. One of those novels where it is good every time you pick it up, but the plot just isn't strong enough that you have to pick it up to see what happens next. The last 50 pages had me crying. The price is way to high. I got the book at the library, because the purchase price (even used) was way too high. In the end I'm glad I read this story.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth The Money!!!!!!!, January 5, 2008
This review is from: Lost in the Mist of Time (Paperback)
Author: Karen Michelle Nutt

This is a long read, but worth every word. Karen Michelle Nutt did a marvelous

job on writing this lengthy novel. Aislinn, a woman of our time ends up being greeted

by a man named Dougray from the past. A mist that transports them from one time

to another sweeps over them and Aislinn is lost in a new time, a past time. She

battles with wanting to return to her land but she is stuck for a unknown length of

time. Dougray a lord and a Clans owner, is responsible for Aislinn. They're at each

other's throats all the time, but passions grow between them. Though they keep it to

themselves; Aislinn finds friends and family, but still others want to send her away.

For her future antics are different from their time. She is very independent and full of

spirit. A woman comfortable to wear her slacks and short hair but beautiful to the

eyes, and full of opinions, she will not let know one tell her what to do. Dougray is

very brave, strong and handsome, full of strong spirits also, he believes that things

should be run like he see them. The conflict between their beliefs and opinions cause a

spell bounding picture. They're attracted to one another, but can not let their selves

go, because of past relationships that did not work out for reasons you will find out

when you read this brilliantly written story for yourselves. This story has some very

wonderful historic truths to it thought the characters are completely fictional. You

will be swept away on this journey through time and you will feel as if you are there.

Eighty-one Chapters of magical words that will keep you spellbound throughout the

story. You won't get any sleep, once you pick up this book, not wanting to lay it down

until you reach the end; the ending will leave you wanting more, but yet also satisfied

.

This is one of the best books I have ever read, and I'm so looking forward to reading

more from this author. I hope to see this turn into a movie.

5.0 out of 5 stars Recommended!, July 22, 2007

This review is from: Lost in the Mist of Time (Paperback)
Aislinn Hennessy is a fiercely independent modern woman with a questionable taste in men. No man in her world lived up to the men she envisioned in her highly successful romance novels. Sir Dougray Fitzpatrick, a handsome Lord in sixteenth century Ireland, has no desire to replace the wife he buried. But he is haunted by a seer's prediction that he will visit the future to seek a vision that will determine his future born.

When Aislinn visits modern day Ireland with her parents, she encounters a man who seems lost and confused. When he remembers his name and purpose, Dougray attempts to return to his own time by entering a magical mist. Aislinn follows and finds herself stuck in old Ireland, where violence is common and women are expected to be submissive to men. Deeply attracted but fighting each other at every turn, they dance around a relationship, experiencing emotions of admiration, anger, frustration, and fear. Will they discover a chance for everlasting love?

The author has created a world of myth, romance, and family secrets, historically set in sixteenth century Ireland. The characters are believable and the description of castle life is delightful. "Lost in the Mist of Time" is a must read for those interested in historical romance with a touch of the paranormal.

4.0 out of 5 stars Mona Lisa Safai- TCM Reviews, October 14, 2009
This review is from: Lost in the Mist of Time (Paperback)
In this modern day fairy tale, Karen Michelle Nutt entrances her readers to enter into her latest novel entitled Lost in the Mist of Time. First we meet Aislinn Hennessy, an independent, intelligent, beautiful woman. She is romance writer who loves writing romance tales but can never seem to find a real one. Her past relationships failed horribly and nothing appears to be changing until she reaches the mist.

While driving she hits a stranger. Someone who appears to be from another century; the sixteenth century to be exact. Sir Dougray Fitzpatrick, Lord of Dunhaven's history not much brighter than Aislinn's, encounters each other with much suspicion. However, they are destined to meet. Sir Fitzpatrick, a widow, was told by a psychic he would meet a traveler who would help him set the future right.

Through their fights, turbulent battles, sometimes, humorous trickeries, and always wild adventures, Dougray discovers Aislinn to be a woman of great strength, heart, and love. Aislinn finds Dougray as a man of courage, bravery, and honor. Their beautifully told story keeps readers in constant suspense.

Nutt is an excellent storyteller with a knack for pace, rhythm and description. She conveys the story without giving away too much too soon with artistic grace. Lost in the Mist of Time is precisely where the readers will find themselves as soon as they turn the first page. It is truly a thrilling read.
