It's a great melody and catchy tune.

I really love the sound and it needs to get more attention than it has.

I'm not entirely certain what genre "Lost River" belongs in - it has a "Rock" sound, certainly, but the vocals are more country. The most appropriate descriptor, however, is not a genre but simply the word "melancholy".
It's a song of unique contrasts, its vocals ranging from low and gravelly to high and soaring, its tone upbeat but its message sad. The lyrics evoke a sense of nature, the beat moving like the flow of the titular river. In the right mindset, this song can be very, very moving.

The sample, unfortunately, seems poorly-selected, and does not convey an accurate impression of the song. Fortunately, it is currently free, and this reviewer advises giving it a try to see if its moody, emotive sound is your cup of tea.

As a former college radio DJ, I have heard a lot of indie bands. The country/bluegrass/Americana genre is generally acceptable, but rarely outstanding. Murder by Death is an exception to this rule. If you like Americana, preferably on the slightly darker end (it isn't gothabilly, but there are similar themes), then you would enjoy this track. I look forward to hearing more by the band.

Moody, melancholy tune with some nice male/female harmonies and some lovely instrumentals. It's actually quite pretty, although rather dark. Has an alternative country/rock sort of feel, but it doesn't fit neatly into any one genre. Unfortunately, the song ends very abruptly, but it's still well worth the freebie download.

Just love this guys voice and the instrumentals are incredible. The song takes you away into the night! Can't believe this was free! Never heard of the band Murder by Death until now, I went and bought their whole album. A great one is I Came Around, and if you go on youtube Three Men Hanging is cool too! That song isn't sold on Amazon :( If you like this guys voice and music listen to "I'm Coming Home" I think its the song from Inglorious Bastards. Great song and the band has a wide variety of music styles. True talent!

I checked out the other songs on the album and they were decent. I dont think the album has the variety in sound to be listened to repeatedly but thats likely my preference.
