Wow! What a great introduction to a new series! Linnet and Sir Anthony are wonderful together. Two alpha characters that discover they are better together than apart. Linnet is a petite woman that is a “vital and determined force” that is taking care of her mother’s house and her two younger siblings. Sir Anthony is a man that is strong, honorable and yet isolated because of his position in the government.

I loved the attraction between the two and the way Linnet tries to steer clear of him as she is not convinced that she is the right woman for him. He is convinced she is and has to approach the issue gently and with a bit of subterfuge. It was wonderful to see them dance around their mutual attraction. I liked how he listened to her ideas and opinions, it always surprised her. This was a fun book to read and I am looking forward to the series that is coming out at the first if the year!

I received an advanced reader copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

This is the second free e-novella I've read that introduces a new series ( prior to this, I read Kate Pearce's The First Sinners ). As such, I expected it to accomplish one thing: explain the origins of the Renegade Royals.

It surprises me that this e-novella is only one page more than Pearce's but the pace is slower and more leisurely. I don't know if this is a good thing or a bad thing because it did still manage to tell a complete story while adhering to the short format. And this was my reflection for yesterday: the format is the same, the purpose is the same -- but the approach and style are different. The earlier e-novella was a page-turner: fast-paced and action-oriented, whereas Kelly's storytelling is more relaxed, more languorous -- dwelling on the details of court, of life, of the tenuous situation Anthony and Linnet find themselves in: they serve at court but their positions are not entirely secure and they are beholden to the good graces of their patrons, the king and queen.

The story of Anthony and Linnet poses two questions:
1. Why is Linnet avoiding Anthony? Why can't she tell him her reasons?
2. How will Anthony and Linnet solve Dominic and Chloe's problem?

The story shifts between the unspoken tension between Linnet and Anthony and Dominic and Chloe's problem with Prince Ernest and how Anthony and Linnet are supposed to figure it out -- it made me wonder about the series in general: whether the Renegade Royals referred to Anthony or to Dominic. (If the previous, then the latter's story would have been extraneous and the author should have just focused on developing Linnet and Anthony. If the latter, then his story should have been developed further.

LOST IN A ROYAL KISS, a Renegade Royals novella by Vanessa Kelly is a perfect beginning to what promises to be an exciting and adventurous new series. Within this novella, we experience first love, innocent and mature. We experience the torment of love torn asunder by rules and loyalties but never lose faith that all will work themselves out in the end. Well, we get a sweet and surrendering HEA with Sir Anthony and his lovely Linnet, but then are introduced to the beginning of a long journey for the youthful pair in this tale. Stay tuned for more love, romance, adventure, and hopefully happily-ever-afters with the continuing series – next up, SECRETS FOR SEDUCING A ROYAL BODYGUARD. With a title like that, you know we’re in for an adventure.

I highly recommend reading LOST IN A ROYAL KISS by Vanessa Kelly. A lovely, fast-paced novella that gives us a wonderful opening for further adventures with the Renegade Royals. This how a man chases a woman until she finally captures him themed story is set in Georgian London and keeps us wonderfully entertained while it whets our reading appetite for those tales yet to come.

This was an excellent little novella with heat, family and love and a wonderful way to set up an exciting new series! Anthony and Linnet have cared for each other for years but never acted upon those feelings but a late night trip to the library changes everything. Just when Anthony feels like it is all finally falling into place, his mouth doesn't utter quite the right words and a new barrier arises. Throw in a complicated young love, Anthony and Linnet need to find the right way to finally talk to each other and find their happiness. How that comes about was a delight to read and I can't wait to read the rest of this series! Well done, I thoroughly enjoyed this gem! (I also loved Vanessa Kelly's note about the series at the end and clearly spelling out what is to come).

My first book by this author and certainly not worth $1.99. There isn't much action, suspense or anything to really keep me interested. I found the beginning to be confusing. It isn't until you are a way into the story that the relationships are explained. The story ends with you not knowing what happens to the secondary character's, so if you are interested (I am not), you will need to purchase the next books which are of course more expensive. (ljb)
