Great movie for young and old. Not a lot of violence, big emphasis on family, and of course, the ghosts. Loved the ghosts, but I always do. It is not the scariest ghost story on the block, but very enjoyable.

While there's nothing necessarily wrong with the 1998 TV movie LOST SOULS, not a whole lot I can criticize it for, there's also not a whole lot right with it. This was a competently-made haunted house story, containing all the requisite elements we've come to expect from our haunted house stories.

A family (the Robinsons) have just moved into a big old house in the country to be closer to a school for special needs children they're hoping to send their autistic daughter to. Dad is a writer of instruction manuals, so there's no messy details about his job we have to worry about--who knew instruction manuals paid so well one could afford a house this size, two nice cars and a private school and only have to spend a whole two minutes trying to focus while your teenage son meanders about your office looking for something to do--while mom . . . well, I'm not sure what mom does other than pester the daughter while she's trying to finger-paint, asking, "Can you make shapes?" before grabbing the girl's arm and making a circle on the page with it. Thanks, mom, you just ruined her latest masterpiece.

The son builds a fort in the back yard and keeps meaning to go exploring those caves nearby, but never quite gets around to it. He's too busy playing with the train set in Dad's office and asking his dad if he can have the bike after Dad is done writing his instruction manual on how to put it together. Which, when I think about it, begs the question, how DO they put those things together before the instruction manual is written???

Meanwhile, there's an old machine they've discovered in a back storage room, manufactured by Thomas Edison (the machine, not the room), that is said to have been built with the purpose of communicating with spirits.

Reviews must be twenty words long, so I'll see how many other ways I can say that this is a really, really bad movie. Let's see... Nothing in it ever makes sense, the acting was so bad it made me think the actors were trying to pretend they weren't in this movie, it was easy to guess right away who the killer was, and then there is "The Box" that seems to make all these bad things happen, but does anyone ever try to get rid of it? Nope.

This is one of the worst movies I have ever seen. There is not much more to say. I would not recommend it to anyone.
