1.0 out of 5 stars Buyer Beware, May 8, 2008
= Durability:3.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:2.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:2.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Lost in Space Heavyweight Metal Robot B-9 (Toy)
The interest in Lost in Space memorabilia, and particularly robot B-9, shows how much-loved Irwin allen's show really was. It also shows that Lost in Space toys came out at a time which rendered them, for various reasons, virtually unavailable to most buyers.
There is nothing wrong with this Johnny Lightning Robot B-9. I gave this overall a one star to make the point that buyers ought to know what they are getting before paying high prices for collectibles. This robot is a couple inches tall, and was one of four Johnny Lightning Lost in Space metal miniatures, which sold originally for around $5 each. The others are the Jupiter II, the Space Chariot, and the Space Pod.
When the Lost in Space movie came out, New Line also licensed Trendmasters to make some excellent Robot B-9s. The only one carried by Toys R Us was very well made and is now rightly collectible.
However, Toys R Us declined to carry Trendmasters' two foot tall radio control Robot B-9s, showing that their buyers wouldn't know a good toy if it charged up saying "Warning, Warning!". They also declined to carry the Jupiter II set, an astounding creation which would have cost around $50, but due to scarcity from non-sales, now goes for far more than that. But then Toys R Us also didn't carry Trendmasters' amazing Ultimate Iron Giant. Luckily Amazon has lots more toy stores now, not just Toys R Us.
Another Robot B-9 that pops up occasionally is the talking key chain, which is about 4 inches tall and highly detailed, and which originally sold for about $5. Masudaya also made a wind-up walking Robot B-9, which was called Robot YM-3 before it was licensed. The licensed version was carried through Rocket USA. There's also a Robot B-9 Christmas ornament that retailed through Spencer Gifts, and which is quite collectible.
I hope Amazon will start carrying all the good repro robots as they come out, and do their best to keep them in their retail line-up. To start with, get buyers with an interest in robots.

5.0 out of 5 stars DIECAST ROBOT B-9, February 2, 2009
= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:3.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Lost in Space Heavyweight Metal Robot B-9 (Toy)
It is a nice diecast of robot B-9, Lost in Space. In spite it is built at a scale of 1:26 approximatelly, its details and painting are good enough to remaind me my fellings when I watched the TV program, 40 years ago.
