Not very useful,
By
This review is from: The Lost Steps of Reiki: The Channeled Teachings of Wei Chi (Spiral-bound)
The amount of useful information in this book could have been condensed into a booklet of a few pages. I'm sure it must be thrilling to channel material directly from someone who claims to be one of the inventors of Reiki, but the authors essentially use their book to postulate that they have the real secrets of Reiki and that attending their workshops is the only way to get the correct techniques as they were originally intended. The only new information that the book provides is based in common sense and obvious to anyone who has practiced much, anyway: First, clients must accept responsibility for their own health --Reiki is intended to be a helping step, not an ongoing "crutch" for people who want someone else to "fix" them. Second, the symbols don't inherently contain any power, they are only a technique for the practitioner to focus his or her energy. Neither of these ideas are a big surprise to anyone who works with the body and healing energy, of any technique or school, whether it is Reiki, Healing Touch, or even simple prayer therapy. It isn't that I dislike this book so much, it just isn't particularly helpful. And if the authors are going to condemn the Usui school for using Reiki to make money, they should at least provide a little more useful information in the books they are selling, rather than promote their own business endeavors. The irony is too obvious to ignore.

Buy it.... And decide for yourself...,

This review is from: The Lost Steps of Reiki: The Channeled Teachings of Wei Chi (Spiral-bound)
In reading the "not so good" reviews below, I could swear that I hear a little entrenched dogma rearing it's head.Having been in various forms of energetic healing now, including Reiki (3rd degree), and having taken the time to compare, I did find Reiki to be "missing something"... and that "something" (lack of client participation) is zeroed in on like a laser in this book. (Do Reiki "masters" really just want clients to walk in, lay down, remain silent, and leave as soon as the session is over? What about the client making conscious decisions and participating in their own recovery... gaining the experience of finding out how to empower themselves in the process...?) It's a simple concept, which takes only a few words to explain, which is why this book is so short. As much as I like what the book has to say in that regard, I'm not a trusting fan of channeled information, having seen some real "quacks" channel. So you'll get no polyanna "it's celestial!" from me. And I found myself skimming over most of the "enthusiastic criticism" of current Reiki by "Wei Chi". (The truly enlightened people I've met stay focused on the good and let the "bad" fall by the wayside...) So, I'm not so sure about the authenticity of the "source"... but the message speaks volumes that all energy workers would benefit from paying attention to.

Well written incredible new material regarding Reiki healing,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Lost Steps of Reiki: The Channeled Teachings of Wei Chi (Spiral-bound)
This book contains exciting "new" information regarding how Reiki energy healing was first performed in the world 5000 years ago. The material in this book is presented by an entity calling himself Wei Chi, and is channeled through Rev. Kevin Ross Emery. Wei Chi says that he was incarnate in the part of the world now known as Tibet during the time when Reiki was first introduced to the world, and that he was one of the people responsible for bringing the energy through and working with it. Written clearly and concisely, "The Lost Steps of Reiki" serves as an excellent introduction to what is now refered to as the "Wei Chi Reiki Method". It can be especially useful to traditional Reiki practitioners wishing to expand their knowledge. At the same time, it can also serve as an excellent introduction to Reiki for a person not yet familiar with this method of healing.

Content is thin and promotional in orientation,
By R M O'Brien (Boston, MA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Lost Steps of Reiki: The Channeled Teachings of Wei Chi (Spiral-bound)
I was greatly disappointed with this book as the authors profess that Wei Chi channeled this information to them to advise on proper Reiki techniques and approaches to diagnosis. I was able to swallow most of what the book offered as Wei would speak of working with Master through-out the book. However, I was highly offended by the addition at the end that since the books writing the authors have launched their own version of Reiki based on Wei's teachings and that Wei has renunciated the use of the word Master. A bit much and a bit hard to believe.

As a 2nd degree Reiki student who was in the midst of deciding what master Rekie teacher I would use for the rest of my teaching I found this book extremely interseting and informative. After reading the negative reviews and actually having the Wei-Chi Reiki used on myself it is obvious to me that these people are not as enlightened as they wish to think, for negativity of that level is unhealthy and not of the energy that this teacher would want using his work. I have been exposed to this new element of Reiki and found it to be extremely powerful. I will be working with these teachers prior to getting my Reiki Masters so that I will have more to offer the community.

This book is on my suggested reading list for my Reiki classes. As a Reiki master-teacher, I have sought out any material that supports more self participation and responsibility of clients in a healing event. It is easy to place the fate of our own health into the hands of a healer, and I find this channeled writing refreshing and full of positive information for healers as well as their clients. Considering that all Reiki masters are "channels" of Reiki energy, I am comfortable with channeled materials when they come with the highest of intentions. All I had to do was pick up this book and feel the good energy coming from it to know that the material is authentic.

As a Usui Reiki Master I was pleased to read "The Lost Steps of Reiki" this year. Thanks to Kevin and Tommy's simplicity of style, this book is easy to read and digest. The practices they have addressed in their book have been easy to incorporate into my practice and have provided my clients with tangible ways in which to facilitate their own healing. This has greatly influenced the way I treat my clients and they are now able to take responsibility for their healing as I continue to utilize Wei Chi's practices.

Will the real Wei Chi stand up?,

This review is from: The Lost Steps of Reiki: The Channeled Teachings of Wei Chi (Spiral-bound)
Reiki is a real healing process. One problem with being an open minded light seeker, is we are afraid to question the absurd. We are too accepting of anything couched in the trendy terms of the day. Yes I saw one of the authors in his robe do live channelling of Wei Chi with revelations as vague as a political candidate. We are to revere this information which ignores the slave existence of Tibetan peasants of that era, who gave all to the Temple. Why would a monk from a hazily identified time choose to visit Emery and Hensel, two unlicensed New Hampshire counselors with buy-by-mail degrees? Tell us fellas, the world awaits your wisdom.

Not To Be Missed!,

This review is from: The Lost Steps of Reiki: The Channeled Teachings of Wei Chi (Spiral-bound)
As a Reiki Master/Teacher, I have read any number of works on Reiki. This book has clarified and magnified so many things that I have discovered in my own work, as well as opening up some fascinating perspectives that I had not considered. The most pertinent point, I think, is that 'traditional' Usui Reiki in it's purest form does not require active client participation, and as such will not fully address deep, core issues. This Wei Chi Reiki information is a powerful step towards integrating true, deep healing into the Reiki system. I applaud these authors!

I didn't know what to expect when I ordered this book, but was mesmerized by the account that unfolded about the ancient Reiki master channeling information. It is directly in line with what I believe to be essential in the practicing of Reiki - helping the client see their imbalances so they can heal themselves, speaking throughout the treatment, diagnosing through the process of 'seeing' energy blocks and imbalances. There are many radical concepts, but true ones - Reiki was never intended to be repeat business, people must take responsibility for creating their own illnesses, as well as take responsibility for healing their illnesses. It is an excellent resource book for those just starting on their Reiki path.
