5.0 out of 5 stars An entralling read, April 24, 2008
This review is from: The Lost Valley (Wilderness #23) (Mass Market Paperback)
A promise to a dying Ute warrior to find his son, sees Nathaniel King and his family on a trail that will lead them into the clutches of a mysterious, hidden tribe - a tribe no-one had lived to describe. And these Indians aren't the only terror the King's will have to face, for deep in the secret valley other enemies lurk, enemies unlike any Nate has confronted before.

As with the other entries in the Wilderness series this book proves to be a gripping read. David Thompson's expert use of cliff-hanger scene endings will ensure the reader will struggle to put the book down before the end.

This is one of a number of books in this series that I'd call Tall Tales, bordering more on fantasy than reality, but it's this kind of entry that helps keep the series fresh and exciting.

David Thompson teams the King's with great supporting characters, such as the blindman. The book has a terrific setting, and glimpses into a world that could have been.

With almost non-stop action, humour and tender moments of family love, Thompson creates an entralling read that builds to an violent, claustrophobic conclusion that ends the book in a spectacular fashion.

A good entry into one of the best series - Ever!
