Editorial Reviews

2011 collection, the first complete CD overview of Wall Of Voodoo, the popular Los Angeles Art rock/Alternative band whose musical legacy extends far beyond their '80s heyday. The release is the first anthology to showcase both incarnations of the group, featuring both the original classic line-up helmed by band founder/singersongwriter Stan Ridgway (1977-1983), as well as the revamped 2.0 edition fronted by songwriter-pianist Andy Prieboy (1983-1988). 16 tracks.

This is precisely what I wanted: a compendium CD of the IRS years--the ones we all know and love from early MTV--without filler and rubbish. It takes their popular albums, strips out the filler, and provides the best tunes, whether we are familiar with them of not. And WOV has a unique style that rings through each of these songs. Glad I got it. May not satisfy the WOV maven who wants all songs, all years, and the post-IRS years. But, for the rest of us, heaven on earth.

I have got most of this bands material including some of the rare tracks by them and was extremely happy this one finally was released. Now we hear the complete output of this band which were very different in their time. I think you have to acquire a taste for this band, either you really like them, like myself, or just can't stand them. If your like myself, there is more to this band then "Mexican Radio". Give it a listen, you might just like them. check out my website sometime @ "JudeMac Forever", google it & say "Hi".
