Super, high energy trance right out of the US!,
By
This review is from: Lost World (Audio CD)
Miami's George Acosta is one of the most solid trance DJ's of the past 5 years, and his latest release surely keeps his place firmly at the top of the trance maestro list. He is known for spinning melodic trance, and always mixing in classy vocal stuff as well. This one retains all that and then boosts the BPM's and energy to a near explosive level (especially with Kompressor's Black Onyx).
The thumpin trance never dies down and only the horrible vocals on track 9 keep this from being a perfect mix from top to bottom. George features all the top German trance artists of right now: Mirco De Govia, Ronski Speed, Woody Van Eyden, Alex M.O.R.P.H., so even being from the devoid-of-trance-stars USofA, George always knows where the top trance is coming from. A few things I'd like to be picky about are the fact that possibly the best track on here, Woody Van Eyden's SI-N+R-GE, is cut to only about 3:30, and Acosta's own new effort featuring John Secada, is a very short mix at just over 4:00, and the CD ends with it fading out way too early. I would have wanted a longer mix of this great new track. *Update* I had a flawed CD that skipped in a few spots on the last track and I exchanged it twice, and on all 3 CD's the flaws were in the exact same spot, so unfortunately, it's on the master. These are not really skips, more like little "diggers" in the music. There is one in track 10, and the rest are in the last track, with the biggest one (the music cuts out for 1/2 a second) coming at 2:58 into the track. Also, I noticed you have to turn the treble down a few notches when listening to this, as it appears to have been recorded with it up at a rather high level. All in all, this one needs to be on every trance fan's short list for 2005.

Definite contender for best trance mix of 2005,

Acosta's "Lost World" is a solid single disk mix that hits many high notes, leaving the listener breathless and wanting more. Lost World starts out with Dunende's spectacular high-energy and celestial "Amor De Dios (Jet-Set Extended Mix)". The mix then hammers along at a fast pace, hitting high notes on almost every track.
One shortcoming that Lost World has is the partially mixed are the partially mixed songs. This leaves the listener rather disappointed, especially considering the fact that the average trance song should last somewhere around 6 minutes, when rather they only get to hear the song for about 4 minutes. Examples of this 'short mixing' can be seen on the Funaki remix of Woody Van Eyden's "SI-N+R-JE" (which is a wonderful track, featuring epic mounting synthesizer lines and a dark spacey feeling). The song picks up and quickly dissipates before it truly can begin to shine. Another example of this short mixing is the tease that Acosta gives us with his own effort "Center" (also a great track, containing wonderful vocals supplied by John Secada, explosive synth lines, and a wonderful drum beat), which sounds as if it has a lot more to offer, but instead ends the CD with a cruel fade. The other fault on Lostworld is the 'skipping' that appears on a few of the songs (especially towards the end). While the skipping isn't too horrible, it does slightly disrupt the song when you are listening to it closely. It is unavoidable however, since apparently the master for the CD had the problems on it to begin with. The skipping can mainly be noticed on the last track (Center), which is a shame since apparently the single for Center does not feature the version of itself on Lost World. All things said, Lost World is a definite jewel amongst trance mixes. It is inescapable, and you will listen to it over and over again before finally putting it down and that will be just to breathe. It re-affirms George Acosta's reputation as one of the best American DJs out there, and is a definite candidate for best trance mix of 2005.

The Ultimate In High Energy Trance!,

This is the first mix by George Acosta I've bought, and it won't be the last.
Unlike most of the DJs I like (Tiësto, Armin Van Buuren, Paul Van Dyk), Acosta takes the energy to almost unbearable heights. The tempo used here is higher, the music used is much denser, and Acosta mixes so that the music stays in your face throughout the entire set. This is why George Acosta is the most refreshing DJ around. The amazing thing about this mix is that all of the greatest elements in trance are here. Although vocals have the least powerful presence here, the ones used are expressive of what the best trance has to offer (besides Born Slippy, which has an odd vocal track in spite of being a good song). From beginning to end Acosta does not let up! Acosta opens the mix up strong with Amor De Dios. He adds a cool "Lost World" sample over the introduction that is likely to give most listeners chills or goosebumps. R.E.S.P.E.C.T., Purple Sky, and the Alex M.O.R.P.H. Remix of Vision '05 are amazing anthem trance songs unlike anything I've heard prior to this mix. R.E.S.P.E.C.T. puts you on another planet with its alien melody. I cannot imagine hearing this song in the club... it would be too insane. These songs will pump you up without a doubt. Purple Sky always spikes my creativity on late night drives. Its build and melody always take me to another world. Vision '05 has a repeating, warping melody that amazes me every time. Some songs on the mix aren't insanely high energy. However, they are dreamlike. The MdG Mix of Asarja by Micro De Govia and Ronski Speed is unbelievable. It's one of the best tracks on the mix. It has a beautiful vocal track and an awesome island time-out with an amazing break-beat. Born Slippy is an impressive song with a vocal track, but I imagine that some will not like the vocal. Honestly, the song is really good. It's not as good of a vocal track as Center with Jon Secada, and it's definitely not as good as the remix of Signum's Come Around Again or Acosta's own remix of I Want You. I Want You features one of the coolest guitar riffs that I've heard in a trance song, and the beat manipulation near the end of the song is great. The vocal manipulation is stellar. George Acosta's Center ends the album elegantly with Secada's soothing voice and a slow, comforting fade-out. The Dj Danjo & Rob Styles Remix of Come Around Again is the vocal star of the mix. The original mix of this song is classic and so is this remix. This is as good as high energy vocal trance gets. The build will leave you baffled to the point of joyous confusion. The climax is so intense! This is fantastic trance. The Climax 69 Remix of Reincarnation along with Hennes & Cold's Born Blind lead up to the mesmerizing SI-N+R-JE elegantly. Super8's Cre8 is another fantastic song. Really, every song on this mix is great. There's only one song left to cover then. Kompressor's Green Martian Remix of Black Onyx is the barn burning, no holds barred, insanely high energy trance masterpiece of this mix. WOW!!! This song... I won't even give it away to anyone who hasn't heard it. Let's just say that the best trance songs tend to have the best builds. This song is one of the best. Thank you Kompressor and George Acosta! I'd like to note that there are a few flaws in the recording of the mix. Other reviewers have pointed out exactly where these glitches are, so I won't. While only one is long enough to be distracting, none of them are really annoying. They didn't ruin the experience for me. Georga Acosta's Lost World is easily one of the best trance mixes of 2005. You're not going to find a trance mix like this from any other DJs. This, like the best trance mixes, is a straight through listen. The Lost World is essential trance! Buy it now.

Acosta remains in his element with his master like spin of the trance disc. Very stong bass lines, and a couple of vocal tracks which are also very nice. The last track is one of my favorites. jon secada's voice moves throughout the track like butter while the bass pumps the song through. Not my all time favorite album, but it is definitely heavy artillery in the trance category.

I bought this CD just by chance after a friend told me it was pretty good. I have never been a huge fan of George Acosta but thought I would take it home and try it out. Put it in, started with Track 1 - Amor de Dios, and cranked it up. I was a little disappointed at first because I thought the bass was pretty weak in the first track,(those of you who have the CD will know what Im talking about, because you probably thought the same thing) and I therefore kept cranking up the power. I scared the crap out of myself at 1:31 into it when that hard hitting bass pounded the snot out of my speakers.
After turning it down a bit and listening to the whole things only one word can describe - Awesome. I defineatly think it would be hard to top this but still I look forward to what he releases next!

George has heard the cries of his pleading fans to release another next level quality cd. Well he has and some here. Best track selection George has ever put together. He seems to have figured out a way to mix his dark side with his euphoric side with this 78 minute single disc. Starts strong with Duende and never lets up. My favorite song had to be when he peaks with Black Onyx. That will blow anybody's mind. George keep up the good work. This is your best and I know you can still do better. Hope he releases another Lost World series 2 because the way he ends this one sounds like there is more to come. I will be anxiously waiting.

"The Lost World" is George at his best! "The Lost World" is nearly perfect from track to track, and definitely shows why George is the Trance Master. Some stand out tracks are: Kompressor, Kyra Vs. Velez, Mindcrusher, and Woody Van Eyden. George's own "Center" with Jon Secada is awesome, and I look forward to their future work together. I would say "The Lost World, "Touched," and "Miami" CD2 are George Acosta's best releases, but every single CD(s) he's put out have been excellent! If you haven't already, definitely purchase "The Lost World"! Probably the best Trance mix of 2005!!

I am not an emotional man but this CD almost made me cry a few times. It is simply amazing. I no longer go to raves but this CD made me long for the times when the sound of trance meant something to me me. m A lot of trance is now just cookie cutter crap. This CD is once again Acosta doing what he does best...bringing you up and tearing you down. Just simply a great great CD. Buy it you wil not be disappointed. I bought my best friend a copy and he called me throughout every track to tell me how good it was. Never before has that happened. I am a member of Acosta Nation once again with this disc.
